Marines are trained to be arrogant. In fact, their besic training is known to be more rigorous than that of the regular U.S. Army. They are the U.S. first response unit, and they are usually the first in and the last to leave a conflict zone (since they work closely with the Navy and are easy to transport quickly). That arrogance gives them the ability to put fear out of their minds and do seemingly impossible things. In the end, it's simply because they are instilled with a bit of that arrogance during the course of their training. I know several Marines, and it's just the way Marines are. Thay are great guys, but they are damned proud to be Marines, and I am proud to know them.Daystar Clarion said:their Marine 'oorah' mentality is rather arrogant.
Here is just one example: The famous Belleau Wood bayonet charge of WWI - into direct machinegun fire.
