So, I've just exchanged probably my 8th pair of headphones in the last 3 years, because once again, they crapped out on me after less than six months of use. I've got a new pair but I doubt they will work for more than six months either.

Does anyone know a brand of headphones that are reliable without being insanely pricey?

P.S. I've gone through about 4 pairs of sennheisers so far. Don't even think about recommending more of them to me.
Also, JVC are crap, too.

I've had Nexxtech headphones (full ear, noise-cancelling affair) for five years, and I've used them for professional recording, self monitoring in studio, and every day mp3 player/iPod use, and there's never been a problem with them.

On the basis you're not doing anything that potentially physically breaks the headphones on a daily/weekly basis (I take it they just malfunction a few months down the line for no reason before conking out), I'm going to ask a series of what may seem bizarre and seemingly unrelated questions, please bear with me:

1. Have you been into hospital at all in the last 3-5 yrs? If so, what for?
2. What do you do for a living?
3. Do you wear a watch? If so, how often do you replace it?
4. How quickly do you replace your cellphone(s)?
5. How long have you had your mp3 player/iPod, when did you get/replace it and how long did your last one... well, last (if applicable)?

Depending on how you answer (though I'm not sure), I may know what's wrong...

Not Skullcandy. Just don't listen to anyone that says otherwise, trust me.

I've had good experiences with AKG stuff.

I use VModa Crossfades. I've had them for about 8 months, and they're great headphones.

Im using a pair of standard Philips ones and they're pretty good.

Best out there imo? Beats by Dre, hands down. VERY pricey though.
