Just like the subject says I would really appreciate the above gesture. I've seen Dragon Ball Z, Fullmetal Alchemist, Yu Yu Hakusho, mostly anything that appeared on Toonamis line up back in the day.
Yeah... depends, what is your definition of 'really good'?!xxmyhero64xx said:Just like the subject says
This whole list is great except for Death Note. Seriously, all you need to do is watch the first and last episode. Nothing happens. It's just a shitload of arguing and stuff.Jonluw said:List coming up:
Death note. I've never met a person who hasn't been completely pulled in by this anime. Watch it.

That's like saying The lord of the rings is just a bunch of fighting and stuff. The series is very good at tension and excitement. The cat and mouse game between Light and L is what makes the series great. What makes it intriguing.
Sadly, the series starts to go downhill around the time Misa appears. And goes to shit when L dies. The first half is very good though.
It's not "just a shitload of arguing and stuff".
Apart from my usual gripes about Guren Lagan (mebbe I'm just too uptight, but that series rankles at me severely)...Jonluw said:Death note. I've never met a person who hasn't been completely pulled in by this anime. Watch it.

With Near and Mello, dear lord were they annoying (so much so I never finished watching it). Should've finished like the manga should've finished, with Light victorious and allowed to walk into the sunset with his evil manic grin.Jonluw said:Death note. ilovemyLunchbox said:Okay, I can agree with all of that. My problem with it is it's bad at evolving characters which is an important aspect of anime. Nothing changes from the first episode to the last episode. The theme of morality revolving around Kira's actions is stated in the first episode and it never changes. There's no satisfaction of any plotline aside from, "Will Kira ever be caught?" The only character who had the opportunity to change was Misa, but she had her memory of the Shinigami erased, so that was nullified. The cat and mouse game did make the series, but once Light erased his memory of being Kira, that was gone. There wasn't a whole lot of suspense. That suspense finally returned once Light got his memory back, but L died right then and there. Mello and Near never really were established as characters that you cared about in any way, so to have Near just proclaim at the end, "We surpassed L. No, Light, you are not anything but a murderer. End of story."... It just sucked. I was very disappointed. So I would say, Watch Death Note if you're prepared to not have any satisfaction come of it.
That's true... even for me, the first dozen episodes were a fucking rollercoaster of a ride, but that's part of what was (I won't say 'bad') wrong with the series... it was such a massive let down post L, that in immediate hindsight, I plainly hated it... :/ Contrast that to... say, FMA:B. Most fans of FMA didn't like the beginning because it skirted over the first few arcs, but it warmed on them because the story was unrelenting, the character development and dynamic was evolving and generally very well paced. And having one of the best endings an anime of this length could have. (IMO, of course)Jonluw said:The reason I'm recommending it is not because of the series as a whole. Indeed, I agree. I watched the first episode and it was starting to bore me. It had cool intro music though. I started watching the second episode. And HOLY SHIT! Fast forward to like 2 in the morning when I'm watching episode 10 or so and just going "Stop introducing plot things I want to see but are in the next episode!".Jonluw said:The reason I'm recommending it is not because of the series as a whole. It's so tempting to hate the series for what happened in the end. However, I can't not recognize the brilliance of the first part.SckizoBoy said:That's true... even for me, the first dozen episodes were a fucking rollercoaster of a ride, but that's part of what was (I won't say 'bad') wrong with the series... it was such a massive let down post L, that in immediate hindsight, I plainly hated it... :/ Contrast that to... say, FMA:B.
