So I do a favour for my Mum, and she goes, "Tails (well obviously not that, but anyway), you can have a game. What do you want?"
So, at first I wanted Dragon Age 2, but now I'm a bit skeptical about it. Not only does it look like a boys game for boys but it looks like every other RPG AAA game on the market (I guess that's a little tautological...). I've got a 360, LIVE, a DS... aside from Black and/or White what game do YOU guys think I should get? I've lost faith in critic reviews, so I'm gonna give honest gamer opinions a shot. And, hey, while you're here you get to tell the world about a game you think really needs more love - so fire away!

Well, I enjoyed DA2 immensely, but that's just my opinion. The combat was fast paced, story was great (got kind of screwy in the third act), and the characters were interesting. Do you have any favorite genres, or preference to the age of the game? Otherwise, I'm just shooting in the dark. I heard Homefront's multiplayer is a nice relief from COD's (if you like shooters).

Huh that's funny, I don't think RPGs are 'meant' for boys especially not Bioware RPGs, considering the fact that you can have a female character and have male love interests. In fact, most (gamer) girls I know love RPGs period due to the rich story, great characters and customization. It's definitely something work taking a look at. Download the demo and try it, but don't judge the game solely on the demo as most people found the demo harder than the actual game.

That's all I can really recommend at the moment. I don't think Dead Space 2 or BulletStorm is worth mentioning.

BulletStorm are awesome!... if your looking for some "more or less meaning less kill them for fun and it funny ways game, who don't take itself or anyone else too seriously" ... game.

But it really depends on what you have and want you like.
Even it aren't new releases, then go with some puzzle like PORTAL are cool, and these days you can get some pretty sweet deals over steam to get either PORTAL or ORANGE BOX really cheap.
For shooters, then to the unseriously side, BULLETSTROM, or if you want a more seriously shooter, then take the ORANGE BOX or in other way get HALF LIFE 2 and both EPISODES expansions.

For strategy games there is a lot of cool ones out there. STARCRAFT 2 to one side for more multiplayer focused but still really good and awesome single player campaign. To the other side there are a new release, TOTAL WAR: SHOGUN 2. I personal love this one for its deep, the way to build and govern your clan and land, and then the really awesome battles.

This was just a few thing I could come up with on the top of my head.

ah, thanks.

well then it looks like you're going to have to start shopping in the under 10 kids gaming section, because every game is targeted towards the male demo.

Baldur's gate/Icewind dale/Planescape: Torment or sequels thereof are a good idea no matter what.

Sonic Colours was surprisingly good, I got the Wii version though. The DS version might still be worth a look.

I did enjoy Fable 3. Legitimately intimidating choices near the end even if the combat is a bit broken.

Tales of Vesperia is a sure bet if you're into if you like JRPGs and oddly enough it was exclusive to the 360. (This game is responsible for making the 360 popular in japan. The console was sold out on of Vesperia's release date and is reported to be the best in the series!)

Arkham Assylum, predator gameplay is as entertaining as ever but the fights are a bit monotonous and the bosses are a joke.

*********Ask your mom to wait until Portal 2 comes out in April.***********

"So, at first I wanted Dragon Age 2, but now I'm a bit skeptical about it. Not only does it look like a boys game for boys..."

The 360 is a terrible system for avoiding the "fratboy-esque" demographic. A LARGE portion of 360 games are COD/Gears of War/Halo/GTA clones. I would suggest saving up for a PS3 and then by Ratchet and Clank, The Last Guardian(winter release 2011), and Little Big Planet.

Well DA2 is not really a boy's game necessarily. I wouldn't recommend it but even though I criticize it a lot, I can say that it appeals to a lot of people of both genders. It is pretty standard though.

Ah...Divine Divinity 2? I definitely think it needs more love. I laughed at it a lot and it has its cool moments. The snarkiness of the PC responses rival Baldur. But it's not a game a lot of people might like. If you like dragons though, go for it.

Arkham Asylum is pretty neat....Portal, Shadows of Collosus, Red Dead...

I don't know what to suggest since I don't know what you usually play and I always assume that people played the classics as in Icewind, Planescape, NWN or stuff like that. If you like the Black and White style, go for that. I had fun with 2 though there's not much replay value for me.

I'd recommend Portal, or waiting for Portal 2.

Dragon Age 2 isn't as bad as everyone seems to be making it out to be, I'm having fun with it and I'm not really seeing how DA2 is aimed at men particularly, it seemed more gender neutral, but that may just be me.

I quite enjoyed the gameplay in Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. I found it quite fun and the characterisation between Mokey and Trip are brilliant. Ending was a bit meh.

Or there's always The Legend of Zelda. Darksiders. I haven't played the whole game, but I've heard it's quite good

I had a feeling I was going to get in trouble for that - it's a joke, guys, that many games out there are aimed at a purely male demographic. I don't mind that, - I love action games and shooting games and even gory games (and let's not forget swooning for Ezio!) - I just didn't want solely that this time. It was simply a joke, and if anybody took it too literally I apologise.

And if the story's really that rich and the combat not as clumsy as I have heard then maybe I will give DA2 a shot - thanks for all the tips and keep em coming! I totally forgot about Arkham Asylum - that might be a winner, too.

Seconding Brutal Legend. It's awesome, it's incredibly unique, it's going to be pretty cheap now, and the multiplayer is fantastic - probably the best bit - if a little tricky at first.
