Can anyone suggest some JRPGs

Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 4/6 and Golden Sun, all of them are really good jrpg, the first two of which have also had DS remakes as well.

Agree with golden sun. By far the best GBA JRPG I have played ever. I played both of them and it was an awesome experience. The animations in game/battle were awesome too btw.

Do you have a backwards compatible PS3? If you do, you can't go wrong with the SMT series and subseries.

The two Golden Sun games are brilliant and stupidly good looking for both when they were made and for the system they were on(GBA).
Tales of Symphonia, Skies of Arcadia, Baten Kaitos(both of them) for the GC.
Seiken Densetsu 3 with the translation patch which can be "acquired" through *ahem* certain methods.

Those alone should keep you going for a good few hundred hours in total

Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken (just called "Fire Emblem" in its U.S release)
Fire Emblem: The Sealed Sword (Japanese only release, but fans made a translation that was awesome)
Fire Emblem: everything the hell else except Shadow Dragon.

Golden Sun 1 and 2.

Super Mario RPG: The Search for the Seven Stars. Seriously, if you haven't played this game, you've not played one of the best games ever made.

Shin Megami Tensai Persona 3
Persona 4

FVII was good (though, don't overhype it in your mind and be disappointed). FFVIII was a good game no matter what people say. FFX was good, though a bit melodramatic, and Squeenix was still getting their sea legs for how to write for actual speaking parts (the localization got wonky, I think they should have contracted it to Funimation).

Kingdom Hearts. They're not the usual RPG fare, but it has the same feel. The plot is surprisingly fun, the characters are surprisingly easy to relate to, and it's just damned fun.

Whatever you decide to do, I urge you to stay as far away from Star Ocean: Till the End of Time and Final Fantasy XII as you can. These two games are inconceivably terrible and may very well ruin jRPG's for you if you play them before any other titles.

I also must recommend Lost Odyssey. I just finished recently and i have to say it is the best next gen JRPG I have played so far. The world is detailed and beautiful, the spell-casting and monsters are breathtaking, the voice acting well-done, and an a real in-depth story on how its like to live for a thousand years.

I thought the voice acting was terrible for some of the characters, and some sub-stories were also not so good, but the main story, graphics, and amount of content you get from the game greatly overcomes it's weaknesses. I think I'm up to 80 hours spent playing the game, definitely my favorite RPG.

(oh, and I haven't even beaten the game yet, so this game will certainly keep you busy if your like me and like to collect and explore everything)

If I'm enjoying a game enough I try to get all the achivements, and after looking at it online. Yeah this should keep me busy.

I had no idea Soul Blazer even had sequels. Loved that game.

Don't think you can go wrong with just about any PS1 or earlier JRPG. Another recommendation for the Kingdom Hearts games as well, so addictive.

Honestly i can't remember much of a connection between them either. However i constantly see IoG referred to as Soul Blazer 2. They are both pretty awesome games none the less.

If you only pick one game off this list, pick Mother 3, as it's the closest video games have come to literature yet. Good luck finding a legitimate copy, though, as you'll need to apply the translation patch to it...

read the title. Basically this is a genre that I have never gotten involved in. To be honest, other than some Final Fantasy VII, X and XIII I haven't really played any JRPGs. Escapists what is a really good JRPG game or game series. I have all the platforms except a PSP and last generation games (PS2, gmaecube, xbox) are fine too. Suggestions?

The Tales of (X) series are always good. They don't take themselves seriously and have clips of hidden dialog that will kill you sometimes.

Mario RPG: classic! It's Paper Mario before Paper Mario. Check it out if you haven't played it.

Xenogears: Really really good combat system. The story is above average but the combat, mix with the fun animation and the changeable tactic make it fun game overall. What's cool in the combat is that you can either spend you AP on a particular combo or keeping them to unleash a flurry of combos on the opponent à la DragonBall Z.

FF9: This is my favorite, so i'm bias on that one. It pretty old school RPG so if you like it, you may want to look 4,5,6 to who they homage the combat system.
