Yes it would, but it would be worth every penny in my opinion. Imagine playing Dynasty Warriors or pretty much any FPS in a holosuit....
Do want! Devil May Cry would be eight kinds of awesome in one too

Yes but look at a game like Halo. Prime example. The multiplayer was fine with number one. Story was....there i guess. Then halo 2 came out. Focusing on multiplayer more so and story suffered more. Halo 3. Beaten before going to work and Multiplayer was the only focus. InFamous had an Amazing storyline and just awed me. For those who care about graphics it looked amazing. Half Life 2. No Multiplayer and was a great game. ToS had stable "Multiplayer" and ridiculously good storyline. But most games coming out nowadays are taking focus off the Single Player aspect and focusing on multiplayer. The games that don't are instantly shunned and usually have poor multiplayer losing a score where as game that have good Multiplayer and no story get great scores and lose no points
I don't think Halo works as an example because Bungie knew after the original game that many people would only buy the sequels for the multiplayer, so they didn't put much effort into the story to begin with.
To clarify myself: what I'm saying is that a good story the designers came up with will never suffer from multiplayer. The reason so many multiplayer-heavy games have poor stories (as you say) is because the developers don't come up with a good plot if they already know from the very beginning that nobody's going to care because they only want their online gaming. If you design your game like that from the beginning, sure you won't get an awesome single player.

But it's the same the other way round. This is why I keep my multiplayer experiences on games that were solely made for the multiplayer, without even having a real single player mode (i.e. Unreal Tournament or Left 4 Dead).

Wait a minute: Half-Life 2 does have multiplayer - Half-Life 2: Deathmatch or even Counter-Strike: Source (both shipped with the original game). But I don't think its story was extraordinarily good, so it still kinda fits your rule ;)

I'm just going to say my 2 cents here. I loved the Halo story line. It was very well done in my opinion. However, I thought INfamous's story line was complete crap and Half-life 2 was ok.

Just a difference of opinions, but the point was, just because a game has multiplayer, it can still have a good story line. It's all a matter of opinion.

Stereoscopic gaming is just getting started and I could see this being the next big thing in gaming. I mean playing a 3D game that is genuinely good 3D would be fricking awesome IMO. I mean essentially being in the middle of a game has to just be the best thing since sliced bread.

If you think that this is the best 'video games' can be, you have a terribly unimaginative mind.

When it comes to having a good Storyline a game must meet a few criteria for me. 1. Have a Somewhat easy to follow Beginning Middle and end (even if you only understand it at the last minute)
Then you must have hated INfamous, as that story was all over the place.

2. The characters must be able to co-exist. And i don't mean like FF8 where they are the game pretty much lol.
You mean be able to work together and seem compatable?

Like how Ally Vance (or however its spelled) Reacts to the others. and 3. The main Character can't be a douche/pushover/complete twat. Examples sure. Complete twat would Be Squall From FF8. Douche would be Master chief cause well. he is. Face it. His line for me and my friends is I need a Weapon. I don't know many pushovers but they are out there.
I don't own or play FF[insert number here] so I have no idea who that is. And I know MC very well. He is a spartan. Made to kill, trained to have no emotions, mission comes first. You know, that whole jazz. Anyway, I don't see your point. A more approiate douche bag would be Marcus Fenix. That guy is just a plain dick. And I know many but I don't see your point anyway.

People we're saying the exact same things back in the days of N64.

"Woah, thing's could never be more realistic than this! This is the golden age of gaming!"

Yeah, people will find a way to make games better and better.

Judging how all the Sonic games on Genesis/Megadrive are light years beyond the quality of the newer ones, I would say yes. Heck they haven't even gotten down a lot of games yet.

How bout we try something else. Name an Amazing game that had Great story and Gameplay Mechanics and Decent Multiplayer that wasn't a PC exclusive. Or exclusive in general.
Okay, you're narrowing down the possibilities to a level I usually wouldn't give you an answer (c'mon, you could ask: Okay, give me a dish that's European, starts with the letter 'U', tastes good and is served very frequently in any European country. Or let's say, in Germany only), but here you go: GTA IV.

And don't go on me now saying how much the game sucked. The plot is triple A satire (as GTA is usually, just look at the instruction booklet) and the Multiplayer is great.
