I dislike cod but im not railing against it but i will rail against its influence on the industry. Its not even a fun multiplayer in any aspect so im just baffled by its large following.

The game creates a very true stereotype that all gamers are swearing 12 year olds and that is a valid gripe to have. The industry has way too many clones that fail to lure away the fanboys of cod with similar shiny objects. While at the same time most if not all games influenced by cods popularity have shit brown and grey graphics. You know some of us can't even see well to begin with and these type of aesthetics are murder on the eyes -_-"

You going to call me a hater for having an opposing opinion?

I'm tired of going online to read or watch a review, and I get a bunch of douche bags leaving comments about how much Call of Duty sucks, or any game is better than Call of Duty. I don't mind that if someone doesn't like Call of Duty, but people act like assholes. It's idiots like this that makes the gaming industry look bad and immature.
Same people who chime in every single time a JRPG is mentioned. Or Madden, or any game that gets an unwarranted amount of hate.

Can CALL OF DUTY shut up about Call of Duty.

They're all the same, and people will play them into the ground - congrats, WE DON'T CARE.

You don't see me posting everywhere about how great TF2 and the Binding of Isaac are.

I won't say anything about CoD or MW3...
I mean I played MW and MW2 so apart from the story I know I have nothing new to talk about.

I have nothing negative to say about MW3 because I have nothing to say about it.
Why? Because I bought Battlefield 3 but this isn't the time or place to talk about that.

I have neither positive nor negative feeling about CoD but parroting that asinine /v/ "haters gonna hate" bullshit doesn't exactly make me sympathize with your cause. I mean, can't you people think of anything other than "He's clearly just a mindless hater" or "He's just a fanboy sheep" when faced with contrary opinions? Maybe just ignore them because I honestly can't see how someone's opinion could affect your life and/or enjoyment of a video game in the slightest. And get this: The "fanboys" always act just as bad as the "haters".
Yeah, CoD gets a lot of unwarranted dislike, but also equal amounts of unwarranted praise, as does almost every other video game. This stuff simply happens on the internet where everyone feels the need to justify his taste in front of an anonymous audience for whatever arbitrary reason.

The irony is that haters say they don't care but they make such a big fuss they MUST Care even just a bit.

No.

Next question.

Should haters shut up about Call of Duty?

Yes.

I won't lie, I'm a CoD hater. I hate the boring gameplay, bad writing, dull visuals, broken multyplayer. I hate that Activision has single-handedly redefined "sequel" to mean "$60 patch". I hate a lot of stuff about those games.

But when somebody say "I hate it because it's popular." That just makes everybody look bad.

So CoD haters should just shut up, I just don't see it happening.

I actually don't hate CoD. I loved CoD 4.

I'm just saying... if you love something, don't force other people to try it out - see how well it worked out for Religion.

I get that, I was just pointing it out.

Obviously, you don't want to force others to like what you like.

This is a pretty human response to hate something because its popular to do so. Also I see this behavior in sports quiet often. For example the past two times I have bothered to see soccer, both times it was Germany vs England and the game was in England and yet both times when England lost, they brought up WW2. Sorry I'm going off now. My point is that acting like a child towards something you don't like is quite normal and not at all unique to people who hate COD.

I don't hate CoD simply because it's CoD - I hate CoD because everyone plays that instead of fighting games and thus I have no one to play with locally. :p

And for those of you reading between the lines, a) online matches are a poor substitute for decent competition, and b) CoD does not interest me at all, so don't even bother bringing that point up.

Nope. MW3 was just released so people that have never played it get to ***** about it despite not having played it.

First, it's very popular, and everyone has the potential to lean towards being a hipster douchbag. Hell, Ill admit, I did it with Halo. I bad mouthed it as being terrible. And it took me a while to realize that I was wrong. I still don't like Halo, but I have to admit that it did a lot right.

Second, It was so popular, it had a disproportionate effect on the industry. It's like if someone decided that they really like Chinese food, so they started serving there family Chinese food for every meal for a year. Chinese food is still great, your just getting sick of it, and eventually, that starts to look like hate. A lot of core gamers really want to evolve the medium and focus on innovation. So such a clear and strongly iterated IP sell like wildfire is depressing for many.

Lastly, CoD, in spite of focusing on polish over evolution, is actually too different for the more conservative core gamers. CoD takes its essence from realistic parts of war to contrast the wilder, less realistic shooters of ages past. There's less focus on finding a progression of guns, and more of using a starting gun. Pacing is infinitely faster, with the time frame for combat between you and a single bad guy being a fraction of a second instead of several seconds as shields and health slowly erode. Multiplayer focuses heavily on large, game changing, unpredictable kill streaks instead of strict gunplay on the individual ground level. The general flow of the game is more like poker, compared to older shooters boxing, where you need an overarching strategy to follow through series of random variables, compared to older shooters/boxings series of actions and reactions to an specific opponent. For a stogy old school player who doesn't actually want to try something different, CoD feels sloppy and random. It's taste at best, closed minded at worst, but that's people.

Can you not make a thread that do nothing to help the situation and just invite people in to make inflammatory comments? You may not have posted much on this forum but I expect something more than a thread like this from a user that has a join date like yours to know these threads do nothing but stir up shit.

Ugh, can people just stop talking about Call of Duty? It's a competent shooter with a Hollywood storyline. That's all.

Making threads like this will merely continue the circle of "hate." I'm going to assume you had good intentions, so I'm not trying to "flame" or lecture you, but give you something to think of next time.
So can we please shut up about cod and start making positive threads about good games.
this pretty much nailed it on the head. Making ANY thread about ANY CoD game is inviting people to come and throw burning pitch at you and CoD.

You want people to quit talking crap on CoD? don't bring it up. You may not like it but unfortunately it's true.
