Maybe if they were secret nerds, otherwise they would probably just get shunned by their fellow jocks. I don't see any other way.

Well, having not done any extensive research into the subject, I feel this audio-visual animation piece should help with regards to the question:

I think the lines of these 'groups' are getting more and more fuzzed. I know a bunch of people who are right into sports who play WoW and CoD, I play D&D and videogames as much as I can, but I still socialise and workout.

Its getting harder and harder to call people nerds and jocks, which isn't a bad thing.

Yes completely possible. Though I don't like labels and their effects. But I my self go to the gym every weekday after work for about an hour and half. I played sports though high school and joined the military. I have built PC's from the ground up only by reading books and new egg/tiger direct. I go to LAN parties both official and just with friends. I also am starting a degree in sports medicine/anatomy. I've been playing games since the SNES and to me games are my relaxation drug of choice after a crappy day. So yeah once you leave high school you will realize you can have all the different types of cakes you could ever want and eat them too.

Have you ever seen a baseball or football fan crunching numbers for the stats of their favorite players or teams? They already are. They're just interested in something else.

First, define jock.

Now, define nerd.

If by "jock" you mean someone who is not only athletically active in school but openly disdains learning, then no. If by "nerd" you mean someone who actively avoids activities that involve physical exertion in favor of mental exertion, then no.

Otherwise, yes.

Yeah I'm with you on that, here in Australia group labels in schools aren't very common, especially considering how most schools here have uniform policies.

Depends how you define them really, I mean there are basketball and football players in some of my honors classes.

When i read this, it reminds me of the ESPN commercial where some jocks are talking about sports stats and fantasy leagues and a group of nerds (you can clearly tell who each is supposed to be by stereotypical clothing), walk by and laugh at the jocks and say something about what nerds they are. Then they walk off while the Jocks look confused like why they siad that.

I always thought that commercial was funny, because if that happens in life, the jocks would beat the hell out of the nerds for laughing and that would be the end of it. Also, its so grossly wrong that it was almost like Nazi Germany propaganda.

Now, I say this, because, yes, Jocks can be nerds. They just have different interests. you ever seen a fantasy league run? I've seen jocks who actually ask nerds for help so they know who gives them the best bang for their buck. It gets so deeply in depth is rivals something like D&D or Starcraft nerd levels. So yes, they can be. Its just a different set of games.

I dunno... can we stop putting labels on people?
Pretty much this. (thumbs up)
Oh my god your avatar is so cute my face is about to explode...<.<
Somehow that is kind of wrong and disturbing. I agree on the whole labeling it is getting tiring. Due to all those labels/stigma's i can not even mention most of my hobbies without being called something stupid.
