My best friend in highschool was a starting linebacker for the football team but also was part of the chess team. You can't get much more nerdy than the chess team or be much more of a jock than being a football starter.
Depends on what degree you enjoy nerdy/jockish things, in my opinion. The greater personality trait outweighs the lesser.
If you play and enjoy football, but also tirelessly watch anime, Star Trek and Stargate and collect all the memorabilia associated with those things while bemoaning the fact that the US release of your favourite manga reads left to right rather than the "authentic Japanese way", then you are a nerd who also likes football.
If you watch Star Trek, but also attempt to play every sport known to man except for the girly ones and spend every non-sporting moment in the gym or a bar while cursing out the managers of various teams for their ineptitude, then you are a jock who likes Star Trek.
