oh man...the other day i was listening to this Stealers Wheel song while i was slicing up this pig i took hostage in a botched robbery...it really completed the moment

seriously though...i play COD w/my buddy and i know he cranks his music so i can run right up behind him and he never hears me comin...I STAB THAT MOFO!!!!...I STAB HIM GOOD...STICK AROUND!!

i personally have only listened to other music when playing sports games

Yes and no. While there have been moments where it actually has pumped me up and made me kick ass moreso than before, a personal example being the piano/horn pseudo-solo in the music for the "Escort" mission [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKupHb-lD5E] in Ace Combat 04 (that pseudo-solo occurring at around 3 minutes, for anyone curious to hear). However, there are moments where it doesn't, for example if I try to play CoD4 online with The Price is Right Theme playing in the background like I've tried to do just for shits and giggles, I can become too distracted by the music and actually suck more than usual

Depends what game I'm playing. If I'm playing a game which requires me to listen to certain sound cues then I normally have music off (L4D, CS:S, WoW during raids), other times I just have South Park/Simpsons playing in the back, usually to make level grinding less boring.
