I've been thinking of getting Shadow of Chernobyl on the Steam sale, but I'm not sure if my comp will run it. I can run Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2 on medium settings.

OS: vista
HDD:300
RAM: 3 GB
Video card: Nvidia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 with shader model 3

Processor is a huge factor in whether games run aswell, that would be handy information.

As best I can tell it matches your specs against the published requirements for the game.

You can definitely run the game and I'm fairly confident it'd run alright but I can't guarantee that. I tried hunting for videos of someone playing it on your card but all I found was a very slow Mirror's Edge video, unfortunately =[

Thanks. I'm probably just gonna have to skip SOC though. I've had open world games that despite my system meeting the specs, still chugged along. Sorry you wasted your time. But again thanks.

At 1080P my 5770 had to put nearly all the settings on low to get a consistent 60fps. If you are playing at that res you are going to struggle in my opinion.
I have a 5770 too, and I consistently get 200FPS on highest settings on Static, (my preferred setting, as it looks way, way more fitting for the game), and around 90 on max on Dynamic. Not 1080p, true, as I just have 1440x900.

I *think* your settings would allow it to run fine on Static lighting, which I would recommend on doing regardless of system. Dynamic lighting is so bright and sunshiny, it really ruins the tone. ...and also it probably wouldn't work with that video card. Not even really sure if it'll work with Static lighting, much less Dynamic!

Sorry, haha, that was a typo. Was supposed to be 200. I took a few screenshots with rs_stats on while playing in Rostok, the Wild Territory for the first time.

They should be visible for you. It seems...erratic. But I never dropped below 150, and was mostly about 200, (sometimes as high as 500!). FPS at top left.

hmmm, possibly. but the real question is:
can it run Crysis?
No, the real question is: can any PC run STALKER smoothly, since all entries in the series take bad optimization to an extreme?
That series makes a sport out of how they can spiral their specs into dumbness. I bet they have mods that help with running it smoother.

Oh crap, sorry about that. It's a AMD Athlon 7550 Dual-Core Processor. CPU speed is 2.5ghz.
Hahahahaha... no...

I mean you can run it... in the same way you can run Crysis... it'll boot up... but I hope you enjoy your 2 FPS and complete lack of textures or detail...

honestly... the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games are optimized like ass and anything can happen...<.<

3 gigs? I'm pretty sure you can upgrade that to at least 4 gigs if not more (depending on what you Motherboard allows).
But yeah. My comp has an older geforce card and it runs stalker like a dream

Stalker *is* very CPU intensive, or so I've been told...

C'mon guys, sure, they don't run all that well, but SHoC, at the very least, is from 2007. It runs just fine if you've bought anything remotely recent, (probably anything from 3 years ago).

...Call of Pripyat, now, if you want to run on max...well, good luck to you, I say! I didn't even get remotely close.

Word to the wise, SOC and the other Stalker games have a memory cap on them, so they can only access 2GB of RAM regardless of how much you have. There are fan made 4GB patches that come in really handy to squeeze some more FPS out of the engine.

Go with Soviet Heavy and get a mod for the 4GB squeeze. However if you have doubts, it could be worth pirating it, seeing how you go and then buying it if you can run it. I think that's a fair deal if there's no demo, no point buying a game you can't run. Did the same with Saints Row 3, was expecting it to murder my laptop, but was pleasantly surprised to find I could run it on mid-high, then proceeded to grab it in the sale.
