I just realized the other day all the games I own are devoit of colour and gritty and bleak. I recent played through Shadow of the Colossus and loved the damn thing for being epic. Before you suggest the uncharted games i have played those, fun but not that great story wise. I'm thinking of getting my hands on Okami, as it looks pretty awesome, I just want to get lost in a fantastic world for a little while.

Go for Okami, don't even think about it, just go.... now.
It gets off to a little bit of a slow start, but when you get bloom, it will scratch that itch completely and satisfactorily.

If you have a PS3, also give Journey a try.

Definitely get Okami. So pretty :D

Another couple of games I recommend picking up if you have an Xbox 360 are the two main Viva Pinata games.

So many pretty colours :D Also it's got waaaaaaaaaay more depth than you'd expect.

I'd also recommend Mirror's Edge for it's sleek and clean look as well.

There are plenty more that I'm sure people can recommend though.

Get Okami. It's not just filled with colour and adventure, it's damn funny too.

Also, the Ratchet and Clank games. Primarily Going Commando and Up Your Arsenal.

I see Okami has been suggested, but how about Sly Cooper Thieves in time? poor game could use the sale. Or for the PC Giana sisters? the game could not be any more colorful, really. And has catchy music to boot

Yeah Okami is a must if you have a wii get Mario Galaxy as well as its brilliant. Depending on whether you like the genre Blazblue games are also pretty colourful.

How are the Sly cooper games btw been meaning to try them for ages but never got around to it are they platformers or are they a mix?

Did someone already say Okami?

Maybe you should try a JRPG. They are definitely epic and some are really colorful, I was thinking of Dragon Quest 8 in particular. Or maybe Ni No Kuni if you want something more recent.

If you never played the original 2 pick up Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. It's good, unless you played the originals in which case it rapes your childhood.

If you have a Wii, Xenoblade Chronicles and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (along with Okami but you've already mentioned that) are both full of color. In general though, the Wii is full of colorful games. Otherwise, Oblivion and Rayman Origins should be good, depending on your preference. If you're looking for a shooter, BioShock Infinite has a far more diverse color palette than most games of the genre.

Well, Beyond Good and Evil had a charming setting to explore, and interesting creatures to optionally photograph.

Dark Souls' sense of architectural abandonment could feel reminiscent of Shadow of the Colossus.

And Psychonauts had multiple strange places, with diverse and colorful design.

Ni no kuni . So pretty . So awsome .

Also Okami , very colorful .

Kirby's epic yarn is very colorful and very relaxing .

Star ocean last hope . However this is more colorful than epic .

Bayonetta is very trippy also and very fun .

Tales of grace F .
El shaddai
Asuras wrath .

There are so many colorful games , how do you not own any.

You need to play Eternal Sonata. JRPG that is just completely stunning.

Another one is Enslaved: Odyssey to the west. I thought the new Bionic Commando was fairly colorful and fun as well.

Other good suggestions so far that I'll echo: Psychonauts, Ratchet & Clank and Rayman Origins.

They are platformers in the purest sense. You will be running and jumping and collecting, but the characters are very endearing and the games have a nice sense of humor.

Giana Sisters Twisted Dreams.
It's not particularly epic though, but it's colorful and cute and i had a lot of fun with it.
Beyond Good & Evil, as mentioned above is awesome too.
Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts always makes me cry, but i was told it's actually an enjoyable game if you don't know the earlier ones.

Any Naughty Dog game you buy will guarantee colorful vistas and funny characters. Though it depends on if you like funny slapstick, or funny douchenozzle.

Well obviously Fallout 3. The colours in that game are beautiful.
OT: This may sound weird, but Brutal Legend. Despite being set in a dark place, it was still quite bright and well-defined. SSX too, if you like white and snow and white.
