There are many versions. I like the animated Mask of the Phantasm one myself. It's available on DVD through Netflix, so I bet Blockbuster has it too.

You should probably mention what series you're reading, as apparently that can influence the origin story quite a bit. Otherwise, I'd say just watch any Batman movie. Or check Wikipedia.

I think the gist of it is that Bruce Wayne's parents are fucking rich, but get killed which leads to Bruce wanting to fight crime. He uses his money to buy all the gadgets and caves etc. he needs. And he works out, I guess.

Depends on the comic series you're reading. Batman is a character who's been written and rewritten into different interpretations and alternate versions over the years. I can't go too much into detail because I've read very little comics. The only Batman comic I've ever really read is The Dark Knight Returns, sometimes considered, the "definitive" batman, or one of them.

Should help I guess.

This is probably my biggest gripe with Batman (And a lot of DC heroes) they seem to change the origins story a lot...

Sure Marvel "change" stuff too, but mostly through RetCons, which means there is one backstory per character (as long as you are reading the main universe and not Ultimate Marvel)
