There are a group of Islamic militants called the Hamas, who have been shooting mortars and rockets at Israel for a few years. So Israel decided to retaliate against the Hamas, and now they are attacking Hamas for their attacks.

Germen and American are really similer, why did they fight in the 2 biggest wars in humanity?

White people people who came to america most likely were from britian, british people before were germanic tribes migrating.

The war? Hitler wanted to dance by the eifel tower, and turn Britian into an amusement park. U.S said no, and the nearby Big Frackin' water park bought out the german one because they didn't pay.

The international community is so bent out of shape because Israel killed a fairly good amount of people in their air strikes. Israel is supposed to be the "good guy" so when they harm civilians expect a shitstorm. When Hamas constantly launch rockets indiscriminately into Israel they are seen as glorious freedom fighters.

The people in the Gaza strip had their chance for peace when their last elections took place. They had a choice; more moderate politicians who would work towards peace or Hamas leaders who promised conflict and guess what they chose. The Palestinians seem to think that just because they held onto that land for a couple of years that that land is now their birthright or something.

from what i've understood of it, hamas fired rockets/attacked Isreal. then Isreal retaliated by attacking hamas strongholds, which happened to be found in civilian areas. then hamas went to the international community saying how unfair and mean Isreal was for attacking them and harming their civilians

Nice.

Anyways, don't listen to the media, the American media, anyway, they're totally biased. Try BBC or something.

I'm not going to talk anymore in the fear that everyone around me will start beating me for not completely supporting Israel.

You know what? I'm actually going to agree with this as the REAL version of history, though I am going to assume that the Big Frackin' water park were saving up for the first few years, as the stock price was too high

Sorry about ruining the thread with off topic things so:

I really wish they would both GIVE OVER I mean seriously! Hamas needs to stop bombing the israelies, so they don't have an excuse to flex their muscles, and the israelies need to stop turning the electricity off and depriving the civilians of palastine. BBC journalists arent even allowed into palastine, the Israelies stop them, what does that tell you about how controlling the israelies are?

Several mellenia of Sibling rivalry again coming to a head once again.

Its like when you have two little boys fighting over something stupid (not being sexist, referencing my brothers)only those two boys keep it up though thousands of generations in which their descendants kill each other because of the 'unfair' actions of the other.

"If you imagine Palestine is a big cake, and this cake is being punched into tiny pieces, by a very angry Jew..." - Frankie Boyle

Nah I don't know a great deal on the subject except what is in that wikipedia article.

Israel could steamroll the middle-east. Its against there state religion though.
It's against their American suppliers wishes.

It used to be a religious conflict, but then it became a land grab by Israel, and they've pushed the Palestinians back to these two areas. Palestinians are fighting because they want their land back. They can't engage in conventional conflict though because Israel is heavily backed by the U.S. with planes and other military knick knacks. The rest of the middle east wants to see Israel gone, so it's no surprise it doesn't take much provocation to get them shooting. I'd be jumpy too.

Basically it's Jews vs. Muslims and always has been. Recently, the Good Old Western Forces have decided to get involved; which inflames both sides.
Actually, this is incorrect. It would be more accurate to say that it's the two religious groups vs. the secular Israelis and Palestinians who just want to get on with their lives.

The more orthodox Jews are the ones who are preventing the Israeli military from thoroughly wiping out the terrorist threat that is more or less continually attacking both Israelis AND Palestinians--there has been definite news coverage that the more secular Palestinians actually preferred matters when the Israelis were in charge--there was a fair, secular, rights-respecting government and everyone could get on with their lives. Now they live in constant terror of one of their neighbors reporting on them to some crazed Muslim cleric.

Add into this the hideously biased media and the foreign pressure that characterizes the secular Israelis as "aggressors" because they fire *back* and you begin to wonder just what the agenda is, here. It's like these people *want* to see Israeli and Palestinian civilians killed in the name of "ethnicity" and "religion", when the Israeli govt. could end hostilities completely and permanently with a week (Anyone remember the Seven Day War?) if they were allowed to do so. Personally, I'd like to see a return to the far more just system where anyone could be any ethnicity and religion they liked as long as they didn't shoot anyone over it, but international pressure brought an ugly end to THAT.

Uhh, this probably isn't the best example. The U.S. got involved in WWI and WWII because they were provoked (German U-boats attacking U.S. ships, the Zimmerman note, Pearl Harbor, etc).

Sorry to be a little off-topic but you got your facts messed up. Hitler wanted to invade Europe, UK fought and won their liberty while US pussied and had a grill at Pearl Harbor. Japan attacked Pearl and miserably failed and US came out of their isonationalist shell. After that US helped to save western Europe from Soviet rule while ignoring the rest of the Europe thus screwing them in the peace talks. That and screwing up things for countries allied with Hitler. Now we are still stuck with freaking big Russia next to us constantly still screwing our asses while laughing at our pathetic attempts to recover from WW2 screw-up.

With out any racism please?

Being that im going to bootcamp soon id like to be filled in.

I just saw something on the news about Israel sending ground forces to Palestine.

Why did the initial rocket attack happen.
Democratically elected government of Palestine is Hamas. Their charter says "kill all the Jews and shoot them again just to make sure theyre dead". They operate largely by support of Saudi-Arabia and Iran (who does not want Israel screwing their nuke by air strikes) who constantly send money and troops to fight for their cause. Since most of arab countries are controlled by religious fanatics they tend to like to fuel religious hatred towards Jews. Hamas uses the strategy of Humanist warfare which means hiding near civilians knowing that Israel cannot retaliate due United Nannies, European Utopia and Media putting huge protests once few civilians die. It also involves faking the massivity of civilian casualties and leaving civilians without medical supplies (google it) so that Israel gets as massive negative publicity as possible. Of course once humanitarian aid starts pouring in Hamas seizes the goods and uses it for their own purposes.
Israel also has elections coming and the current government seems weak compared to rightern parties so they wanna look tougher.

My text sounds pro-Israeli but when there are 300 rockets pouring in every week for tens of years I would urge my government to kick the crap out of those bastards. Israel has recently been more and more aggressive on their actions and colonizing west bank (HUGE population growth of colonists) and relocating Palestinians will mean it becomes Jewish in the long run which is good since the less fundamentalists who cant be negotiated with we have the better it is for all of us. Year 2009-2010 will have LOTS of violent deeds so dont get too excited about a simple attack..

JMeganSnow put a really good point which we all tend to forget. Militant fundamentalists also attack their 'own' people as seen in Pakistan, Egypt and Palestine for example. Also more secular muslims tend to like Jews as seen from other countries around the globe. If I recall correctly Kosovo had 80% support for Israel.

Yes, don't believe anything from any US media or politician. Forget Iraq, Israel has been the US's pet project for decades. More money goes into Israel than every other country in the world combined for supply and relief from the US. To put it in perspective, Israel is the base for all Middle Eastern operations.

This stuff is deep, far deeper than 99% of Americans know. It is not black-and-white and certainly not anything that a few sentences in a post could do justice. Research it yourself. The truth is shocking and disturbing.

Oooo, the ignorance of watching American news...

If you want to know the truth about the Isreali/Palestinian conflict, read Noam Chomsky. I would love to start ranting but when I do I get all tangential so I won't. I will just say that to think of Hamas as terrorists and the Israelis as just a nice country trying to get on is so far from the truth as to be offensive.

Fash.
