Can someone please explain to me how anarchy is supposed to work? Edited

Anarchy is impossible. If everybody is free to do what he or she wishes, somebody is bound to discover the potential of working cooperatively towards a goal. Eventually this group, due to its strength by numbers, will become the dominant force of its area. This dominant force, in order to keep its rule safe and its area orderly, will impose rules upon those who live within their dominion. Sooner or later, in order to take down those whom they see as opressors, the various individuals from the dominion of the aforementioned group will seek out support and create another group, which will then fight the first one. There you have two governments warring- no anarchy to be seen.

How would anybody stop a government from being created, hmm? With some sort of regulatory agency that prevents such a task...oh wait, THAT'S GOVERNMENT!

So yeah, I'm with the OP. I don't see how anarchy can work. A government can be created at anytime by a group with a large enough influence.

You just described the political science concept of, "Realism," quite well. i.e. a group comes into power and does whatever neccessary to maintain power. It is indeed inevitable.

It's basically impossible. A society without any form of leadership simply wouldn't work on the long term. Humanity, as a species, alwasy needs some kind of leading figure (or preferable multiple leading figures controlling each other) that divide tasks, make the rules, award accomplishments, punish breach of the rules and protect the weak. Of course an utopic society where there are no ranks and everyone treats each other equally sounds great, but unfortunatly it wouldn't last.

I believe in anarchy because I believe in survival of the fittest.
Let me explain:
Long ago when there was no government, people governed themselves in a way which kept them alive and healthy. If you did something stupid, or did nothing to contribute, you would end up killing yourself, or someone killing (or maiming) you. With this system, only those fit to survive would .. well, survive.

With today's system, people float through life on the soft cushion which is our government.
They can be a total dick, and a horrible/lazy person; and we are powerless to 'remove' that person.
Sure, we have courts now; but we all know they're not always just.

So what I'm saying, is if the entire world went to anarchy; in about 10 years we would be reduced to only those fit to survive in the real world ... not the man-made governed world.

We would be a much more superior race, which would multiply and our kids would have the same values (you know, the whole Darwin's Theory) and would survive as well.

But it can't in our world. People would be too willing to exploit the lack of authority, sadly.

Every time a political thread pops up theirs always someone who states his or her anarchist feeling.


I just dont get it... How is a system like that supposed to work. Its like Marxism, good in theory but way to general to be practical.

No I am not anti-anarchy, but I should seeing all the problems its cause in greece (home conuntry), but that is not really anarchy, just punks that are bored, and stupid fox news like media coverage.

Next, I under stand that anarchy isnt supposed to work HAHAHAH your all so clever and funny. Im asking how it would work. How would a society be able to have an anarchy without chaotic qualities.

Finally, for those people going around and saying we should overthrow goverment and create anarchy, Is that even possible?

Anarchy only works in a perfect world.

The idea behind anarchy is that government ceases to exist, and people continue to live their lives by one major principle, and that is the law of equal freedom (basically, you can do anything you like, provided that does not impinge on the equal freedom of another).

The core principle to all of this is the belief that everyone is equal, and by that logic, why do some magically get the privilege to rule over the rest?

Anarchy can't work in reality for one very simple reason: Not everyone has self-control, morals, or dignity. Because of that, someone will always take advantage of someone else for their own gain, and never stop because there's no punishment. It's really kind of depressing, but that's human nature for ya.

It really sucks though, seeing as I fully believe anarchy would be the best form of society if people would get their heads out of their asses.

But having watched Anarchism work for I'm going to say nine years, I can say you're wrong about it falling to pieces in reality. There's a question of scope, but it hasn't fallen to pieces on me yet.

Then you're going to have to show me where you saw it work and why it truly is an anarchy. I'm being intellectually belligerent, but I'm going to assume that because you have internet service, you probably do not live in an anarchy.

You do realize that internet is not a state provided service right?

ISPs are all private, at least in the USA, and in no way affiliated with the government.
