Dragging a horses corpse into the center of the room before revealing a sledgehammer and begins to beat the crap out of the corpse

Can we put this to bed yet?

It's been screwed from the begining with price and just weakend the deal with no price drop and very few actually fun games (which is basically the opposite descriptoin of the WII which has many fun but kidish games and it's pretty damn cheap.)

PS3 will never die especially up against it competition

the Wii is for casual gamers and kiddies, not really sony's market

The xbox 360, and i'm gonna say this for about the 50th time on this forum, has half the graphical power of the PS3

now can we lock this.

Isn't Tales of Vesperia PS3 exclusive?
Thought it was an XBox exclusive actually...

EDIT: Yeah 360 exclusive with a rumor that it will be ported to the PS3 later

Oh yeah, I forgot it is 360 exclusive -

when I saw this [http://darkzero.co.uk/game-news/tales-of-vesperia-coming-to-ps3-too/] I thought "Yay, it's for PS3 too now" - but then Namco updated that "That was a Mistake" - could be timed exclusive or who knows, Namco could be telling the truth, and it really was a "Mistake" - but, I just forgot that "The Cake..er...Announcement was a lie!"

Left 4 dead is NOT going to PS3, UNLESS it sells well on 360 and pc. And games will mostly go to other platforms, but they are exclusives at this time.

Having hardware specs is one thing, living up to them is another matter entirely.

That said, all the consoles have a loyal fanbase, and I'd be amazed to see any of the 3 companies drop out of the console race this time round. It's going to be quite a while until we see a repeat of Sega.

Also, is the PS3 in a "rut" or something? I know this thread doesn't have any "bad intentions" but, I've noticed the PS3 is the new PC - everyone thinks it is doing badly, but it isn't, everyone thinks it's a horrible system and isn't worth the money, but it isn't. Is the PS3 on the verge of death now? Hence why we are asking if it will "survive"?

I just don't see why the PS3 gets so much of this, I mean, most of the systems had a bad launch, but it looks like the PS3's bad launch just stuck with it =\

Its because people don't remember that all console launches suck and the ps2 was no exception. They expect the ps3 to be what the ps2 was towards the middle of its life right out of the gate. Although when you take a deep breath you realise that at this rate the machine will coe into it's own right on schedule. You also have to keep in mind that there are quite a few noobs out there who haven't experienced at least one console "war" they can only remember Sony's near unquestioned dominance last generation. They don't even know that the Dreamcast was just kicking PSX's ass in the begining during that era.

If anything I would say that the question should be asked of the 360 when you consider how the US is it's last real stronghold, and you see so many JRPGs suddenly being announced for this system; which just speaks brand image crisis to me. Funny thing is I really started to take note of the whole situation when Gears 2 was announced for this November it just reminded me of the fact that the first game came out when there was essentially nothing really worth noting on the horizon or already out at the time. To see that the second game was once again doing little more than filling a void in the 08 line up just lets me know that Microsoft wants Epic to trot Gears 2 out ASAP so they have something for November. Originally I had figured Gears 2 would be an early to mid 09 release.

I find it even more interesting that Microsoft has been able to propagate the illusion that they are doing so great when a console with "no games" can manage to outsell it during it's last calendar (May have been fiscal memory is hazy at four am.) year. It's also odd when I start to hear rumblings about the next Xbox console already (Granted they start work on new consoles as soon as they finish the current one.) because I can't really think of anything other than the eventual Halo 4, that I would even want to take a look at on the next Xbox. As I said before there are way too many "Me too" releases on the 360 as it is and going into the next batch of consoles they won't have closed the brand gap at the rate that they are going with their current console.

My own personal hope is that some other company gets into the console business next round and just forces Microsoft out for one cycle at least. (Dreamcast 2 would be sweet.) They need a better strategy and more studios on their payroll through direct ownership. If you see a mountain of multiplatform games (Including PC.) by the time the next Xbox console is being seriously talked about publicly you should expect a lack luster third console.

Well more than one person on the internet has thoughts like this. Besides its not as if the OP was behaving badly when he started the thread. There are far worse.

More than one person on the internet believes that shitting in someone's mouth is the path to exquisite sexual endeavour - doesn't make it any more palettable to me.

I don't think it was the launch sales figures, more likely the constant lying from sony about when the damn thing would be released. Anyway it is a great piece of hardware.

Umm most of the games listed for ps3 i would buy, the xbox 360 titles are uninteresting to me except for maybe fable 2. The ps3 will sell to people who like those games better, there are plenty and frankly i do no see the logic in people preferring xbox 360 games but i accept it, accept they are good games i just don't enjoy and stick with my ps3.

Games aren't art they're media.

As the influence of the player cannot be predicted or controlled it is almost impossible for it to cross the line into artistry.

You could have a game in a gallery as a piece of interactive art but then whoever plays it becomes part the work - the game itself as experienced by the player will still not be art.

Except No More Heroes obviously.
