It's sure as fuck turning into the Roman empire.

I'd say that for that matter, the Roman Empire continues to be the biggest problem; their culture of violence, corruption and war has shaped Europe into the place it is today, and has been for hundreds of years.

I still say religion. The reasons why I blame organised religion are far too great in number to explain. But seeing it first hand through my family, friends and work has made me feel this way. I'm watching evangelical Christian headcases prophesise and encourage working towards doomsday as well as stamping out others who do not accept their views, Islamic fundamentalists who cut off the hands of children and bully their women into utter oppression, Hindu's who can't settle on their land rights and Jews who cannot tolerate a Muslim presence.

It's frightening stuff, it really really is. In this modern day and age it's still incredibly terrifying to see how it continues to function. Some of the people that believe in this bullshit are world leaders, important political figures and celebrities! That counts for all religions too.

I can see the world being torn apart within the next twenty or thirty years.
Funny thing is...most Christians would probably agree with you.
I'm a christian... And amen, brother.

But you've still been out to fuckin lunch, man. It's Muslims who can't tolerate the Jews, not the other way around.

Yes but Armageddon is part of their beliefs! ;)[/quote/]

And? Beatles fans believed in "Helter Skelter" as well...did that make all of them Christians?

Don't forget the many wars between India and Pakistan.

but which nation shouts the loudest?

please forgive me for the ignorant hate-crime the rest of this post is about to become

most of europe looks at america and your rabid patriotism and sighs deeply.
the only reason your the 'greatest nation on earth' is because you declared yourself so, and just happen to be the biggest MEDC going at the moment.
we look at you and see an excited and spoiled child (in terms of history) who's just learned that he get what he wants by screaming at his parents (that would be us, over here in europe with a history longer than 200 years)

eventaully china will take over, and they WILL be better than yo, but you won't be able to handle not being the kid with the biggest collection of toys.

/ignorant hate-crime

You could say this about any "World Power" in the existence of history.

The Roman Empire did so, and died from it's gluttony after losing a large majority of it's landmass through over expanding.

France did this after Louis 14th and had to go through several Revolutions to finally sort things out.

The U.K. did this and had a giant mess with India, as well as the United States (although they did have more success at imperialism then anyone else).

Russia could also be charged with this in the days of the Cold War (as the Soviets), and fell over through a government reform(And an incredibly large working class, they like to revolt a lot).

The U.S.A. is just running on the power it has at the moment for being one of the first countries to have open boarders (or at the very least the most successful country to do so).

Most likely the U.S. Government is going to collapse when Democracy becomes non-democratic and develop into a republic of some sort (Possibly a Commune).

I would say Governments.
Seriously, what government is not corrupt, has not started an unjust war, has not sold weapons to terrorists.
OK that last one was a little ridiculous, but it still stands, governments tend to really mess things up for the people. If everybody lived in nomadic tribes the world would be a better place.

But of course, the major problem would be thus. The universe is the root of every problem, for if it wasn't here, there would be no problems. Now to drop the quote summing up this theory.

This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Humans themselves really think about it for second if humans didnt exist the solar system would be in better shape there would be no global wars there would be less disease and no crime committed out of pure insanity the world would be in better shape if humans didnt exist. But aside from that I would say that the biggest problem is the idea of one huge government leading every human on earth look around you it seems that when people are put in large groups we go crazy if everyone lived in small towns or tribes there would be a much stronger sense of community and almost everyone would know each other and that would greatly decrease petty crime and also if one person in the community had a problem on a personal level(spouse abuse Child abuse exedra) it could be fixed easily by the community

You know, all throughout history there have been "biggest things wrong with the world", but life always seems to go on. Like I occasionally say; bark less, wag more. Meaning complain less and be happier with what you got. Only get unhappy if someone tries to take away what you have.

Islam

A fanatical political system, that brainwashes it's followers. It is bigoted, sexist, racist, anti-semantic and is against free speech, crushes ideas, and any kind of independent or critical thought. In fact, to criticise the Qur'an, Muhammad or say any kind of blasphemy is a crime.

Anything which believes it is above criticism is dangerous and this 'faith' is taking over Europe and we are allowing it to happen.

I'm all for secular nations, free speech, equality and the basic right to live without fear. That makes Islam my enemy and the enemy of anyone who has similar values.

Too many children.

No, really. Think about it.
Children are filthy, loud, and obnoxious little snots.
When they grow up, they become filthy, loud, and obnoxious adults.
Or sometimes, politicians.
Or soldiers.
Or terrorists.
Or rapists.
Or regular people who just contribute to making everything worse.

Instead of blaming "people," I blame "children."
It makes me sound like a mean old man and damnit, I like that.
Did you get that from somewhere? Cuase it sounds familiar...

Not that I know of. I don't really watch many comedians, and they're the only ones I can think of who would say such a thing.
As far as I know, I made it up.
With my brain.
As long as you didn't make it up...
with your ass

im gonna make this simple for ya all, the biggest problem in the world: HUMAN BEINGS.

think about it, if it wasn't for us, earth wouldn't have polution (with the exception of cow farts) and all the other problems would be solved by mother nature, so no one would really concern themselves with much more than be born learn to walk/swim/fly.... find food, procreate die.............. see the world would be simple. and without problems.

I'd love to know how you come to such a conclusion, given that most people on this planet have been and continue to be religious, and nations which adopt atheism (not secularism) as their state religion tend to collapse and actually go a bit backward (Soviet Union, Cambodia, Maos China).
Maybe it's because most people are also idiots?
Possibly... As atheists are so fond of requesting from theists, where is your proof?

Let us use the scientific method.

1. Due to the fact that world has yet to see an atheist state last beyond 50 years, and given that such states have been horribly oppressive to its citizens, we can formulate a theory that governments founded on atheism have always failed up until this point.

2. Some stuff here about faith being "poison", and Issac Newton, Descartes, Freeman Dyson, and Francis Collins all be stupid.

3. Yeah, and Richard the Third and Saladin and crusades and 1157 and stuff.

4. Therefore religion is bad and is responsible for alllllll of lifes problems. And atheist societies would provably work much better.

No.

The real problem in the world today, the big challenge that causes war and people to fight each other, is intolerance, hatred and bigotry. It is the Muslim who will not make peace with the Jew, the Turk who will not talk with the Greek, the Christian who will not talk with the Pagan... but it is also the atheist who will not talk with the theist. In condemning everyone else you have a beef with and blaming the worlds problems on them, your behaviour matches exactly that which you claim you want to remove from the world.

Oh how ironic is the path of the fundamentalist atheist... =p
Have you ever noticed how America has never, ever been a Christian nation? We separate church and state here because the founding fathers understood the dangers of theocracy. This is the way any operable country should be. Forcing people to be atheists works about the same as forcing people to be religious, and our country would be just as bad of a place to live were we a Christian theocracy.

Could you please show me where I even once referred to myself as an atheist? Please? I am secularist. Religion does not fit with military or political matters and the fact that it is often brought into such matters is verifiably a reason for much of the suffering in the world.
