I think street racing has somewhat died out it seems like everyone is giving up on it. I want it to come back so bad and I want the NFS games and other games to go back to street racing. I want the fast and furious movies to go back to the old days where they were amazing. Tokyo drift 2 fast 2 furious the original the fast and furious were greattttttttt! i like the newest one and the one coming out looks awesome but I wish they would go back to their roots. Does anyone agree or care or do I just sound like an idiot?

I agree. I miss showing up dipshits that think stickers and noise make cars go faster.

You aren't an idiot for wanting something and you are not alone. It's not something i currently crave but it would be nice.

Actually, NFS started out as more of the exotic-car, exotic locale deal- NFS II, my first video game ever, had the player in McLaren F1's and Jaguars racing in places from Australia to Nepal. It only started to go the street-racing way after Most Wanted, if I remember right... which is sort of when I lost interest in it. Only got back into it with the latest Hot Pursuit game.

I don't hate games like NFS underground, but I'd take a Ferrari and a nice soundtrack over a glow-in-the-dark Honda Civic and crappy hip hop any day.

I loved NFS Carbon on the Wii (racing on the wii is great if done right. Use the analogue stick to steer, and the wiimote as a gas pedal) but my favourite racing game ever is burnout paradise. I have played it on both the PS3 and computer and absolutely love the open world and traffic.

My favourite racing sim has got to be Dirt 2.

In video games sure. In movies no, because most street racing movies were terrible and inspired hundred of idiots to try the stunts on streets in populated areas. Seriously, seven kids in my graduating class died from that street racing crap and half of them weren't in cars.

I still street race, if I can. My 1995 Pontiac Grand Am SE does some mean purring when I ask her to.

I would say no though. While its fun sure, unless its a straight away and just see who can get their faster on an empty road, dont bother. There's been plenty of close calls zipping in between cars, avoiding police, and drifting sharp turns without hitting the break that have almost killed us. I know for me persoanlly, I almost flipped over doing a drift and was really lucky I only came out with some shallow scratches. and that it was an old junker car I totaled.

Some things die out for a reason, and should only look good in games or movies. I mean, I wouldnt mind seeing some Fast and the Furious type movies during the summer.

You obviously have no idea what youre talking about. You dont get what its about. I love street racing because its underground and secret it just gives it a cool feeling but the thing that makes it the best is that people who share a common interest of customized cars get to compete and show off with other cars. Any car enthusiast would love this. So what some street cars have a ricey sound and some gay graphics but its their custom look. I think its cool that people can have a car that turns heads without owning a ferrari or a lamborghini.

I get dicks in 'tuned' rice rockets trying their luck all the time when I'm on the bike.

Sometimes I'm actually forced to use 3rd gear (4th and 5th are for going up against other bikes....and proper cars!!)

i like bikes too and obviously theyre faster they weigh like 6 pounds. Im more into cars though youre probably one of those fat tools that ride a bike and think theyre sweet but really everyone can see what embarassment the bike is going through.

I think in the title of this thread, you need to point out that you are referring to street racing video games, not actual street racing on real streets and with real cars. I've seen at least three people here that are quite fired up for all the wrong reasons. And I was about to write one of those posts myself until I took a glance at your post. Just sayin' ;-)

The genre of street racing pretty much went as far as it could IMO. There are just so many stickers and body kits that you can make. There wasn't really any place to innovate anymore so they elvolved. If only Call of Duty could follow the example that NFS has set

I think the NFS games should stick to street racing. NFS Hot Pursuit 2 and Most Wanted were probably the 2 best of the series. NFS:Shift was good but Gran Turismo and Forza already own the simulation portion of the market.

On a side note please don't actually street race. Besides looking like an ass in a old rusted Honda with a massive spoiler on it you are also a deadly threat to other drivers

I dont drive a rusty civic and I dont have a massive spoiler nor would I have one on my rusty civic if I owned one which I wouldnt. Street racing is only dangerous to the people involved if you arent an idiot and if you do it the right way.

It's not like street racing went anywhere, at least over here.
Maybe it all came here, actually. We have some decent roads.

I recall one ring that got busted up by the police were using an old dirt/asphalt circuit around a lake. Their circuit was almost 20 miles long.
