Oh, but I do, the problem is far more that text can be interpreted in many different ways. Such as yours, you apparently took my post as ''you are a ignorant idiot.'' when what I was saying as ''writing that comes across as you being ignorant or worse a idiot.''. Why? Because tons of people say this kind of thing without any irony, you yourself admit that is your actual perception, ofcourse it's in the extreme, but it's rather annoying to keep seeing people, amoung them even content contributers write such ignorant garbage. One way or the other, if that is your perception, you are still ignorant to the reality. Ignorance doesn't make you bad, you can't possibly know everything, overall, their are a shitton more things that we all are ignorant about then what we actually know.

.
well "its like building a TARDIS/you need a degree in theroetical physics" was exageration, I still dont see it as that much of a big deal...it was a lighthearted joke, perhaps theres somthing Im just not getting here

I didnt think it was inflamatory enough for people to get their noses out of joint over,

for me the whole point of this thread was "is there an alternitive to building your own" its not that I wouldnt entertain the Idea of building my own, I just wondered if any PC gamers did buy the thing (more or less) as is (also there are certian things with my current situation, such as me not being able to buy stuff online and well...transport issues)

again that doesnt matter..all of this was just satisfying my curiosity and entertaining the Idea..nothing more

and its a long way off anyway, I just think I really prefer gaming on a PC

As much as ye hardcore PC gamers like to make it out as some harrowing right of passage, building a computer is actually really, really, really easy. Once upon a time it was a bit more complex when you had to worry more fiddly hardware and having to go through the BIOS to get everything set up, but now? The process has been streamlines and simplified to the point where in all honestly it's just a matter of plugging the right parts into the right places and making sure you don't drop anything. It's that simple.

You plug the right parts into the right places, make sure it's all hooked up properly and nothing is touching anything it shouldn't, turn it on, insert the windows disk, follow the prompts that will shortly appear, enjoy!

Still if you're honestly concerned about building it yourself there are alternatives. Could always order through one of the many PC company out there but they tend to cost a fair bit more than had you built it yourself, as in hundreds more quite often. Also look around where you live, here there's a fantastic store named Memory Express that has solid prices and for a small fee will put together anything you like, wouldn't surprise me if there was a comparable local store where you live.

... and I can usually trump those wankers with "Was the first game you played one you typed into a TRS-80 yourself with code from a magazine? No? HA! Fucking tryhard."
No.

It was typed into a ZX-81.
Close... very close. Bonus points if you got the Speccy as a kit and soldered it together yourself.

Although you lose all points and have to wear The Hat of Schoolyard Shame if you later owned an Amstrad. :D
Noooooooo!!! Amstrads were cool. Mine had a disk drive...

Ok, fine I'll wear the hat.

What am I doing in the OP
No seriously, I'd love to ditch my xbox for a PC, but I have no clue about computers, it's pathetic. And I don't have thousands of dollars (that I can waste). I have no tech smart friends either, which sucks cock
Do you have lots of patience? I think patience and care is more important than extensive tech knowledge. Look up a computer building guide, maybe ask on the internet for some recommendations on what parts to get based on your budget, earth yourself and then start building. As I said before, it's more akin to building a delicate lego structure that's prone to break if you do it haphazardly, rather than an extreme technological/engineering endeavour.

Building your first PC costs patience, as well as money. But it's a lot less money.

....and a flux capacitator"...
nah, you dont need one nowadays. i for one use cold fusion reactor for all my "energy-stuff" things.

of course you can get one. most pc building sites offer pre-built pc.

the way i see it, pc building is for more enthusiastic pc gamers. different games have different needs. for example, you dont need ultra powerful gpu for grand strategy games, but a good processor can help.

also, pc building is easy - you just need to learn it in a responsible manner. i for one learned pc building by buying pre-built pc, then changing its gpu. then i changed ram. then i changed cpu and motherboard. just take it step by step and its a lot easier.

another thing, to qualify as "real" pc gamer you have to remember that there are very strict requirements.
one, you need to have a pc.
two, you need to play games on said pc.

i know, its a lot to ask from novices, but those strict requirements have made us the elite that we are now ;)

I'll second what others have said about it not being as difficult as it seems to build a PC. All you really need to do is buy a book on it, of which there are many available. There are also some online guides which could be just as good, but when I built my first PC I liked having a book. First read at least some of the book/online guide, then go ahead with ordering components.
