Can YOU handle the heat?

Talking with a friend earlier, he told me about an article from somewhere in the US where people were experiencing a "heat wave" in the 90's during the day, kids getting sent home from school and whatnot, people losing their shit, etc. I live in Puerto Rico, it is 2 am here right now, the temperature AT THIS TIME is in the mid 90's. It's literally been like this since late february. To top it off, I live in Ponce, the hottest city in the island, it rains here MAYBE a month a year, I wish I was exaggerating.

My question to you guys, is, can you handle the heat, or does it give you problems? I'm used to it, what DOES piss me off is people complaining when it does actually rain!!!! And in the winter when it goes all the way down to the mid 70's, and people start complaining that it's cold, that seriously makes me want to send them on a one way trip to Iraq or Afghanistan, where 140 temps are common, see if 70 is too cold then.

I love the heat! To me, its weird when people complain about the nearly 100 degree heat unless its accompanied by high humidity or a total lack of shade.

Puerto Rico, being a tropical island, is extremely humid, it gets sticky here lol. Everyone always looks like they just got done having sex.

Write this down. This is the cure for the common 'hot'.

Put 3" cold water in the bathtub and stand in it.

No, longer than that.

Oh come on, show some backbone and stand in the freaking water.

A large quantity of blood (and other fluids) flows through your legs as they hold the rest of you up and take a fair amount of abuse during the day. Since these fluids circulate, you do not need to completely immerse yourself to cool off. Though you can if you really want to.

Alright, now you've cooled off, you're good for at least another hour in the heat.
Now dry your feet so you keep the carpet clean, and so you don't slip and crack your skull.
Repeat the process as necessary.

Exactly. I can take being put in an oven. Just don't boil me.

Im from Auatralia and it gets pretty hot where I live like in the 40's somtimes (celcius) no Idea how that translates to farenheit, and its pretty warm most of the year

I cant stand the heat, I much rather winter and rain (its winter right now acctually)

Sometimes I'm just like, "Oh fuck me it's so damn hot", but after like ten minutes I just get used to it. The thing is I just drink plenty of water and I'm good to go. I love cold weather more though. It's easier to warm up than cool down and I love when people complain about it. Put on a fucking sweater and calm down.

It gets to around 40+ celsius with the humidex here in southern Ontario. And I always wear jeans. I don't think I'd do to well with an actual temperature over 40c.

I actually have a much higher tolerance for cold, heat messes me up however, maybe I should move to Iceland...

It's perfectly natural for someone in a high temperature environment to tolerate it, we had some Africans over at my house for a visit in the middle of the summer and while I was shirtless and sweating they were in winter jackets and shivering, it was so fucking odd :D

Same here, I love the winter and when it rains i'll stand outside just looking at it for awhile just enjoying it. Sadly it doesn't know here, or maybe it does but the heat melts it before it falls on the ground lol.

If you live in a country where air-conditioned buildings are everywhere, you won't be able to take the heat because you never build up your tolerance.

If you live in a country where there might not even be enough water pressure to take a shower to deal with the heat, nevermind turn on the AC, then yeah you'll probably be able to handle it better.

I hate the heat, but I can handle it. It's mostly because I don't like sweating.

Cold is more my specialty. I don't wear a coat or jacket ever. Short sleeves for a snow ball fight yay!

Not me, temperature gets above 20 or so celcius and I want to drop dead. on the flip side I can easily handle temperatures in the -15 to -20 range in a t-shirt and shorts.

From where I live, ninety degrees Fahrenheit is a breather from the recent temperatures this week. Although it does tend to make me pass out though...
