Can you usually remember your dreams? sometimes I can remember them for a while, but usually after I wake up, I can't remember them. I can sometimes remember bits and pieces, but not everything. Occasionally I'll remember in vivid detail a dream I had forever ago, but then I'm not sure if I just had it or if it WAS a while ago. It's confusing. And on another note, why are dreams so strange and random?

I'll remember dreams that had a significant impact on me. Same with anything really. If they are uninteresting, then I'll have forgotten them, that's just how my mind works. The majority of the time, I'll know what happened right after waking up, but I'll have forgotten it within 5 minutes.

A few, but a lot of my recent ones I can recall in exquisite detail for about a second after I wake up.

I do not think I dream, I mean, I remember what happens around me in the physical world, when my brothers moves, when my father turns on his radio, but I cannot have dreams, I just see black...

Actually it's one of the symptoms of alexithymia, which I probably have.

Usually I can remember them right when I wake up. By the end of the day, though, I can't remember but maybe one bit of it. Although, I had a recurring nightmare when I was little where my brother and I were eaten by a giant cricket. That one's stuck with me.

Yeah I generally remember the ones involving people I know, which are mostly girls I've dated.

I dream about the things that go on around me most of the time like when my friends are on a video game and I am sleeping it can get into my dreams.

When I was young, I would remember every single dream I had, in vivid detail. But for years now, I remember them right when I wake up, and then they fade away and I forget them. With one or two memorable exceptions.

I get that "remembering specific things from old dreams" too. Like I'll remember a specific wall or something. It's quite weird.

Last night I was a lone soldier on an RTS, shooting barrels and blowing stuff up. Actually, I'm pretty sure I've had RTS style dreams before...
I also once dreamt I was being taught about games being art, as if I was at college, but there was no room; just the teacher, one of those massive-notepad-on-a-stand things, me and a few other students, and empty whiteness. We were asked this question; "Halo is all about fun. Do you like or dislike this? Give your reasons/Discuss", and my answer was "I dislike this because games are art, and art shouldn't all be about fun". The dream interested me, because this is the sort of answer I would've given when I was at college; stating academic facts and not really explaining anything.

As for why dreams are so weird, I think they're probably a loose thread of recent events and words you've taken in, often replacing the actual words with synonyms or showing things associated with them. I think that if someone managed to find a way to work out the actual coding of a dream, it would look like really bad translation.

I won't remember then when I wake up, and then something random will trigger a rush of dream memories.
