Can you suggest to me a space mercenary game?

I was a bit vague in the title but basically can you suggest me a game in which you fly around space completing mercenary style contracts and earn money to upgrade your ship or at at least something within the genre.

X³: Terran Conflict is the first one that comes to mind, if only because it shows up for sale on Steam from time to time.

The Evochron games by StarWraith are also pretty nice. The graphics are pretty slick, and you get to design your own ship. The same guys also made a freeware game called Riftspace though you might be hard pressed to find it now. Less features, but hey, it's free.
