Yeah I don't know if this belongs in the advice forums or the gaming forums so if a mod could move it to the right place it would be appreciated.

Anyway, I will be unable to play any games within the next two weeks due to complicated reasons (I'd rather not explain) and was wondering what I could do to pass the time, so I ask you escapistsa to give me suggestions on what to do please.

I don't have that many hobbies other then gaming so this is why it's so hard.
did your parents ban you?

did your girlfrend ban you?

do you suspect your addicted and need to go cold turkey?

really this intrigues me
As I said, it's complicated and I'd rather not tell strangers on the internet about it but I guess the more I say that, the more intriguing it gets.

My moneys on the rents bringing down the ban hammer, my family did it with me with ragnarok online.

I discovered wow a few months later all i can say is "shit soooooon"
By golly are you far off. My problems far exceed a simple banning from games.
My bad, hazzard a guess something medical/physically stopping you then either way hope you find something to distract yourself with. Think its been suggested but some good TV series to kill time.

Firefly
House
Weeds
Breakingbad
6 Feet under
Game of thrones

Or try some anime out if its not your thing give death note a go ;) or even cowboy bebop

Audio books are a great way to pass the time.. you get the effect of reading without the effort! Plus, you can discover some great new books that way.

Spending time with people you haven't seen in a while - friends or family or whomever - if feasible.

Writing or drawing or something 'crafty' passes the time pretty well, too.

Focusing on work/schoolwork/etc.

Board games (or card games) if you have people to play them with who won't cheat.

LEGO. Get yourself some LEGO. If LEGO can't make you happy, I think you need to see all the specialists.

Read, man. Perfect opportunity to experience some of the classics.
Definitely this, you could go for some greats like the Sherlock Holmes stories, they come in nice bite size instalments so perfect if you're not a big reader. Or more modern stuff like Conan, also in short story form. If you're more of a COD type then you could read some Tom Clancy, his Rainbow Six book's pretty cool.

Or failing that, watch a load of classic films. Or shit films, that can be just as entertaining if you have friends over.
Alternatively you could go out. Go anywhere, get your music on and go for a wander for an hour, you might discover something cool. Unless you live in the middle of nowhere, and then it will just be good exercise for you.

Yeah, I'm ging to have to join everyone else in saying you should get some reading done. Lord of the Rings is a good one to read if you never have and have no other distractions. The first third of it is incredibly dull, so it's easy to get sidetracked when there's digital galaxies to save.

Here's a few of my other favourites, which I will eagerly recommend to anyone when given the opportunity:

Catch 22 - Joseph Heller
Stranger in a Strange Land - Robert Heinlein
Starship Troopers - Robert Heinlein
Cryptonomicon - Neal Stephenson
The Icarus Hunt - Timothy Zahn

Other than reading? Well, you'll still have TV and the internet, I assume. Check out some shows you may have missed.

If you don't want to discuss things with us "strangers on the internet" why did you post a thread discussing stuff with us?

OT: Books, Movies, TV, Internet, Getting Drunk... basically what everyone else said.

Read some books. Seriously sometimes even when gaming is an option I prefer to read a book. Books are awesome.

Watch some good movies. No matter how many movies you watch, there's always more out there. Go on a horror movie binge, expand your horizons with some independent cinema, sit back with an action-comedy, the possibilities are limitless.

I went hunting for gold today. Never done it before but I would gladly do it again, found about 5 bucks worth of nuggets which I intend on melting down to form a bigger, cooler nugget (if that is even possible, any geologists on here?)

It was quite an awesome day (and completely legal, mind you don't go digging for gold on private property :p)

Films. Ignore books, they're just films that haven't been green-lighted yet.
As much as this made me chuckle, this is the worse advice ever :p

Wow, sounds like you're really dependent on video games...

Seriously though:

- Read some fictional books to entertain yourself
- Read some non-fictional books to educate yourself
- Hang out with friends
- Watch TV shows/movies
- Join a local sports team
- Work out
- Learn: cooking, sewing, knitting, carpentry, automobile repair etc
- Listen to music, discover some different bands and genres

I would suggest shooting Nihilus in the back of the head and betraying the Council to work for the Reapers.

That should keep you busy for a while, Saren.
