can't remember the name of this movie or anime.

the movie was something about a kid trapped in a world of books or something like that. it started as live action but after a scene where the main character is chased down in a library by some magic purple liquid it becomes a cartoon.
the anime was something about a girl who is sent to an alternate universe that might have been the moon. it included giant robots and one character had a skeletal arm because of a dragon attack or something. I can't remember if it was the main guy or his evil brother. I think the anime started with a D, but that's all I remember.
both these are over ten years old at least.
