How many people that currently own a 3DS are also MML fans that will check the store enough to know that they need to buy this? Not everyone hangs around video games sites and not everyone goes through the stores. There are a lot of factors working against the dlc that could potentially cause the game to not come out.Raeil said:Um, honestly, spending $3 on a good demo is well worth the money. Sure, it would suck if there weren't enough people to convince Capcom to release it, but that's the risk this venture is taking. It's definitely (in my mind) a better investment than three lottery tickets.
Also, taking your scenario, if Capcom made $3000 on this demo, they would definitely pull the plug for good reason. Enough work has gone into this project, which started in September, that $3000 could barely cover any costs. Honestly, I'd say if Capcom can't get a return of 75% on this demo, then there's no reason for them to keep working on the product, as they've already shown a significant loss.
Legends 2 WAS good, didn't even make the playstation Greatest Hits category.fundayz said:What does it matter if it's an old franchise? If the game is good it will sell regardless.
This little stunt just shows that they are not confident that their game will capture peoples' interest and by extent, that the ideas and gameplay behind the game are not up to par.
They're not having "second thoughts", the game was never Green-lit in the first place, its been in post-production. The fact that its going to be released on a new platform (the 3ds) is likely one of the main things keeping it afloat. It's garnering attention. Think about it: the prototype is going to be a LAUNCH TITLE on nintendo's new download service. A service with many game-less gamers (because its the 3ds) that are going to see this little 2 dollar (or possibly free) dealy on the front page. You think it wont get attention?Kheapathic said:If their marketing department is having second thoughts they should probably go ahead and cancel it. If they were unsure about it in any way, someone should've spoke up about it being a 3DS exclusive. Now they're unsure of its success they're releasing a pay for demo on a service that is unproven (let alone brand new). This is why I say Capcom doesn't know what they're doing. Whoever is calling the shots should be dismissed, because as soon as Capcom starts realizing they're low on capital they'll start on the yearly Street Fighter rehashes.Sentient Muffin said:Guys, don't you get it? They're not trying to come up with an excuse to CANCEL it. They're (the games ACTUAL devteam) trying to come up with an excuse to MAKE it.
The Devroom (legends 3 forums) only have about 11,000 members, between japan AND the entire west. Do those sound like good sales figures to you?
Anyway it will cost 200 ($2.40) yen on the japanese 3ds shop. They haven't said whether we'll have to pay.

That's more than a bit. No way in hell would I or should I pay for a demo. That isn't what a demo is all about.Jonny49 said:Bit of a dick move.
