I would like them to keep the controls of Resident Evil 4, just add a sidestep while in shooting mode, and reduce the number of ammo drops to the level of the first game, that would be a great game I think.

Oh, I love how they describe RE5 in a positive manner, as though it'd somehow played on RE4's success and taken us yet another bold new step into- PFFFFFFFT... Chris' hunt for exactly what we expect from Umbrella, which includes Wesker. Granted, people's opinions for the game will vary, and Wesker IS still badass, but they've gotta be joking when they say "Resident Evil 5 moved further away from the series' roots". No, that was a recall TO Resident Evil's roots.

There was one perfect iteration of the series, as the author stated, RE4. They basically remade the same games on RE1-3, but they only did one in the vein of RE4, then they moved right into the action shooter genre. I liked 5, but it didn't feel like a RE game.

I am gonna wait to see/hear more before I am willing to make any kind of judgement/decision based on the words of one man.

can't we have both? Fluid controls of a shooter but the atmosphere and limited supplies of survival horror.

My prediction? Leon S Kennedy, back with a vengeance and roughly twice the size of Chris Redfield in RE5.
So much muscle he refuses to use a gun and instead runs (hobbles) around punching zombies in the face, decapitating Tyrants by putting them in headlocks, and arm wrestling El Gigantes.

Oh, and Wesker's back. Do you really think you can kill Wesker? Not a chance friend.
everything you said here...had better come true

...But I want Wesker back godamnit! The man was practically the epitome of Rule of Cool. He was like Sephiroth + Neo.
This is what I want for RE 6. Then I shall be satisfied.
I agree and agreed >:D

I dont get very scared when I'm in a hallway filled with zombiez......and a shotgun with oodles of ammo. gotta make ya feel helpless to scare. :) But, people are scared by different things.

I just roll with the trends, if they say Chris is now three times bigger than what he was, what other way is there to go?

Plus, its Wesker, it took a
Shot to the face, falling out of a stealth bomber INTO a volcanic crater, getting shot like a million times in the chest, ran through with not one, but TWO giant knives, and he was still fit to fight. He fell in lava and STILL was a threat. It took two missiles and a lava bath to "put him down".
I still don't think that's enough.

Let's flip a coin to find out heads it becomes a dedicated survival horror, tails it stays a super fun shooter.

Ha ha my sides.

Well this presents an interesting conundrum. Capcom made about a dozen games brandishing the Resident Evil logo. Most of them involved you versus a large number of crazy-ass monsters. Most of which you couldn't really tell where they were because of the dodgy camera angles. But that was part of the fun. The horror came from whether or not you were going to survive the next encounter. Very little ammo, tons of monsters, and scary mansions, cities, and underground labs. It made them popular and quite a bit of money.

Now, when they made RE4 they completely changed the formula, going for a more action game shoot-em-up style, dropping the 'horror' aspect down the toilet. This may have lost them most of their hardcore fanbase, but got them a much bigger fanbase and much more money than before, most of which liked RE5 as well.

So, if they're going to make a new game and try and appeal to the old crowd, they're going back to the horror genre, but will most likely lose the new, larger fanbase.

If they make the new game more like RE4 and RE5 then they'll keep the larger fanbase, but alienate the ones who made them who they are in the first place.

If they're trying to go for a bigger audience... Well... How can you get bigger than an over-the-shoulder shoot-em-up action game with weird looking monsters?

You know it's a bad sign for a franchise when you have to completely revamp its gameplay every-other game. Though arguably, the gameplay was never the problem with Resident Evil. RE4 would have been just as fun had it been done in the style of the first two games.

Use a double-headed coin, cause I REALLY want this to be a survival horror. There aren't enough survival horror games out there these days, and if Capcom can somehow combine the fun in RE4 to the horror in RE1&2&3, then we'll be looking at the jackpot.

I really don't mind either way, because even if it fails horrendously I know that's going to make me love it all the more. Resident Evil is like the epitome of "worst favourite". 99% of the things I love about it are the things it does so, so very badly.

A DINING ROOM?!

Principly first post sarcasm. Not a fan of the horror genre to play but I do enjoy being a spectator.
