On the subject of capcom's latest screw up with spelling on the box art of Asura's Wrath. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/115899-Crappy-Capcom-Proofreader-Strikes-Again]

And I suddenly remembered the Fallen Creator page of tvtropes [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/DarthWiki/FallenCreator], and reading the Capcom section.

I asked myself, what the hell is happening with Capcom? They used to be one of my favorite game companies until they made some very controversial decisions-cancelling Mega Man Legends 3 and not including Mega Man X in MvC 3 and still not including him in UMvC3 even though with the strong demand to put him there are just the few examples.

also there this image. [http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/5229/capcomandtheirunpopular.jpg] Which is saying that Capcom is becoming the Japanese equivalent of Activision.

So what do you think? I know Capcom can still release quality games but its their attitude towards their customers that enrage me that much.

But then again there is still EA, Activision and Ubisoft.

Coming from a Capcom fan myself I'll address the issues in the image provided that most affect me:

Mega Man Legends 1/2 Not coming to US:

Honestly, so fucking what? You know how many copies of MML1/2 were purchased in the US combined? 560,000 total between 2 games.

Legends 1: 390,000 (830,000 worldwide)
Legends 2: 170,000 (420,000 worldwide)

Source: vgchartz.com

If I were Capcom I wouldn't spend the money to localize it either.

Mega Man Legends 3 Canceled:

More or less same reasons as above. I simply think more people are bitching about it than actually planned on purchasing it. Remember, this was around the same time UMvC3 was announced and a shit load of people were pissed about that.

Devil May Cry Reboot:

Yes, it's upsetting to see what they have done (and what they tried to explain). But DMC was in need of a refresh. Blame Ninja Theory though, it's not Capcom's fault. If anything, Capcom did what they had to business wise when the hate came; Stand by their decision and developer.

Mega Man Universe Canceled:

Damn did this suck. Very very unfortunate. This could've been one of the all-time greats in Mega Man history, and the trailer was astounding.

Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3:

God, you know.. *sigh*... Everyone KNEW this was coming. Seriously, MvC3 wasn't very good and patches weren't gunna fix that shit okay? Capcom doesn't make these JUST to grab you money, they make them because of the new content and MAJOR FIXES FOR PROFESSIONAL TOURNAMENTS DEMANDED BY THE PROFESSIONALS.

For fucks sake, they sell them 20-25 bucks cheaper from the original release. They know they're releasing the same game with minor updates and content and add a adjective to the title, they're not hiding it and charging you 59.99 and come out yearly like, oh I don't know CALL OF DUTY, ROCK BAND, GUITAR HERO, NEED FOR SPEED, EA SPORTS TITLES, etc.

I could continue, but I'm getting worked up about this. Moving on...

Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition

Same as above.. Read it.... And they made it available to SSFIV owners as DLC for 14.99. Leave it alone! God dammit.. .

Asura's Wrath:

Majority of the game is QTE. So? When QTE's are established as a main point of gameplay that's not a negative, that's just the game.

Spelling Errors, that is inexusable.

Resident Evil 5-6:

I understand the arguement about the on-disc DLC. Except that it was about RE5 Versus... Which is horrific if you didn't know. Believe me, you're not missing anything if you didn't get it.

Resident Evil 6, give it a chance. Really, we're bitching about the game already and we don't even have a demo yet. Besides, it's Leon! Name me one bad Resident Evil game that had Leon in it? Hasn't happened in my opinion.

No plans for Monster Hunter on Playstation products:

A bummer no doubt. But 'No plans' doesn't mean never. Believe!

As for your comparison Capcom being the new Activision; A fair assesment. They have a lot of similarities. And while at this moment I can't really muster up any compelling arguements apart from I simply love Street Fighter, MvC, Mega Man, Monster Hunter, Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, Dead Rising, Killer 7, and Tatsunoko vs Capcom... Activision has CoD.

What really irks me is the ULTIMATE editions. Or Dead Rising Off The Record (same thing). Those should be illegal in the gaming world. Even CoD doesn't troll you like that. RE6 actually looks good to be honest. But yea, I don't know wtf is happening. I miss Megaman..I really do.

If you need me, I'll be in the corner of this topic where all the pissed off Ace Attorney fans are still complaining about AAI2 not being localized.

Well on the subject of Dead Rising 2:Off The Record, the developers Blue Castle Games (now Capcom Vancouver) said they made it as a some sort of a Fanservice to Frank Castle fans.

But you are right this kinda of business attitude enrages me that much.
Remember Devil May Cry 3? You know the game they had to re-release because the Japanese Hard Mode became English Normal Mode.
But at least they re-balance it somehow.

I have, and I'm very excited for it. Needless to say when I heard it was actually getting a worldwide release I did a little dance of joy.

This dance to be exact...

Let's just hope it's subbed instead of dubbed because I don't want to be another train wreck of a dubbing.

I heard they're doing both (which is pretty normal, I suppose) but yeah. I'm usually all for dubs in video games and anime and stuff, but not in live action movies.

Well they aren't the developer that's CyberConnect2. Capcom is just publishing it. I don't know why Capcom would be blamed for that one. Though I must say the 600 man dev team for RE6. There's no way in hell that's necessary unless every 10 Capcom employees equals the brain power of one high school student.

keeps stuff in their own region
surprised people pirate it.
fuck you Capcom ML3 would be awesome. It could also be that EA is secretly Capcom if I look at their Fan interaction.
I don't really have any Capcom games from the last few years (except for Dead Rising and SFIV) but I did follow the ML3 debacle and I,m disappointed CC let so many fans down.

OK, so Ultimate editions or Super editions are annoying, but really, is there anything devastating about spelling errors? Who does it hurt? Should they be treated as child rapist just because they have had 2 spelling errors lately?

Games don't get localized, well that sucks, but those games don't sell extremely well as it is. Sure they're fun and I want them, but the company got to protect itself just like we got to protect ourselves.

Also Capcom making sequels? Well that is what Capcom has been doing all the time. They have a very small budget for original titles why are you complaining now?

[HEADING=1]OBJECTION![/HEADING]

CAPCOM wanted the change in order to raise the visibility of DMC, to let everyone know about it in a short space of time. Ninja Theory's original designs were actually said to be faithful to Dante's original designs, but CAPCOM said that they had to be different, completely different, so Ninja Theory gave us this and CAPCOM loved it.

(SOURCE)

OT: Fuck CAPCOM, I don't have much faith in them anymore. I remember that some famous Japanese dev said once that western developers run too much like a business, like the main focus is money, while Japanese devs focus on the experience for the players. CAPCOM undermines this completely, charging high prices for what are essentially re-releases for games, (SUPER STRRET FIGHTER: ARCADE EDITION, etc.) and actively discouraging creativity, just milking the franchises they know will make the big bucks.

Calumon: ...I kinda liked Mega-man... : (

Calumon, I grew up playing Mega-man and love him too. But since its creator Keiji Inafune already left the company. Capcom will milk the Mega-man franchise dry. To further add salt to the wounds they have the nerve to add the ugly box art mega-man to the roaster of Tekken X Capcom.

Capcom can go fuck itself. I used to be a huge fan due to Megaman, Okami, Ace Attorney, Devil May Cry 3 and Resident Evil, but this gen they've messed up basically everything they've ever done and nearly all of their games have been mediocre/bad.

Not to mention the localization, blaming fans, constant (slightly) updated releases and DLC bullshit. Just because we knew it was going to happen, doesn't suddenly make it acceptable. They've pretty much become a shitty company and I avoid them at all costs.

Actually, buying UMvC3 works out as a better deal than them having released it all as DLC even if you bought both it and MvC3 full price. If they'd had some big public press conference or announcement showing that you'd save something like $20-$60 depending on your purchasing history with it.

One thing I do have a problem with them for though is their treatment of Ace Attorney international releases. I can totally understand us not getting the soundtracks, a lot of the merchandise or DVDs of the musicals and I'm so glad the movie is getting an international release and Wright made it into UMvC3 and the original trilogy & Ghost Trick have got iOS releases, but why aren't we getting AAI2 or AA vs Professor Layton?

Layton games sell HUGE over here and they're clearly interested in marketing Wright abroad, it could really help boost his profile. It's also Level-5's most requested international release and just the other day they announced a different game was getting an international release.

And Capcom? Look at Atlus. They sell almost 100% of their catalogue internationally, and they're firmly niche titles. They do limited runs based on demand. DO THAT. Ace Attorney fans are incredibly loyal and more than willing to show that with their wallets. Hell, you could just do an iOS or digital 3DS release, or only release enough to cover however many people will pre-order a copy.

And Megaman fans, I feel for you, I really do. Now I know what it's like to have a gig time publisher jerk you around with a franchise you love. My heart goes out to you. Here's hoping Capcom stops trolling you guys.
