This i what our family car looked like after a car and a bus went into the back of us.

By jamieson90 [http://profile.imageshack.us/user/jamieson90] at 2011-05-06
I was actually sat in the back of the car when it happened.

I am ever going to learn to drive? probably not after that.

Oh man...

I've been in several car accidents. I've had 3 cars totaled. Fucked up part is, all of them were me getting rear ended by another driver.

The worst two: 1) I was sitting at a red light and a woman plowed into my truck, no brakes, going about 50 mph. She was crying and she looked down for a tissue, looked up and BAM! Shoved my truck into the car in front of me which crushed my radiator (so you know the extent of the damage). I was in a Toyota Tacoma, she was in a Small sedan.

2) I was driving on the freeway in SF and the car in front of my broke down and was coasting off the exit. I was taking the exit anyways so I thought "whatever." Moments later, an large SUV flies up behind me and tries to switch lanes and BAM! Next thing I know my foot is pressed on the accelerator and I'm shoving the miata in front of me down the off ramp. Airbags exploded, I got burned from the chemical they use to deploy them. Whiplash etc. Fun times.

Best part is: The guy who hit me got out of his car, ran RIGHT NEXT TO ME and down the offramp, hid, called his car in stolen and got away with it because I was disoriented and my girlfriend at the time was injured in the passenger seat.

He had been drinking too.

So yea. I have awesome car accident luck...

Just over one year ago, I was driving home from work in the rain, and my car went through a puddle and lost traction, went sideways into a tree doing about 80km/h (Speed limit is 100). the tree hit the rear passenger door, but luckily it was only me and one team mate that day. My team mate went back to work the day after, And I needed to work out insurance (And I was still shook up) so I took the day off.

Other than that, nothing to me personally. But my parents have both been in bad accidents, My mother rolled her car and didnt get injured, and my grandmother crashed with my dad, his brother and his sister in the back seat. My Dad's brother died and his sister went through the front windscreen... She survived though luckily

I narrowly avoided being involved in a car accident when I was about 10.
My parents, brother and I were in the car and we pulled up to get something out of our house. As soon as I left the car (on the road side) there was a loud screeching coming from around a nearby corner. A car comes careening round and crashes straight into the section of the car I had just vacated. Luckily noone was seriously injured, apart from the drunk guy behid the wheel who ran away to get hit by a train... Karma's a *****.

My friend drove into the side of me while sober because he's a fucking horrible driver.

My Grandfather was killed in a head on traffic collision caused by a drunk who was speeding and on the wrong side of the road. The drunk lived but he did spend 2 hours waiting to be cut from the wreckage with my dead grandfathers face inches from his own.

I've been present as a pedestrian at about 3 traffic collisions.

I live in an apartment block on the corner of a highway which has a really quick set of lights (it goes from amber to red quite fast) and in the 2 years I've lived here there's been about 5 collisions and there's a weekly screeching of tired which signals the near misses which are constant.
A young gent died about 12 months ago in an accident which I went out to with the first aid kit, I was also the person who made the emergency call. It was quite a bad accident and the traffic lights needed to be replaced after the car which was hit spun into them.
I shat a brick when I saw a little pink backpack in the middle of the intersection because I thought a little girl had been hurt or killed but she managed to escape serious injury. Buy good quality child seats people.

EDIT: My mate's dad literally shunted us off of the road at about 100km/h (62mph) one day because he thought it was just his son in the car and was mega pissed with him. Yeeeeeah, it was bad. No one was injured though.

Car vs Wall. My car won. It was at very low speed. I was new to driving and was parking and tapped the accelerator not the breaks and punched through the wall. No one was hurt. I have nearly have a another one in wet weather. I had to double check my blind spot before changing lane and the car in front quickly stopped. Lucky the lane was clear and I changed lanes very quickly.

Got bullied a lot at school, which included being kicked into the main road and hit on more than one occasion. Been hit on crossings several times too (2 cars, a van and a bus, every time the dipshit was on a mobile and ran the light).

Amazingly I've never ended up with more than a cracked rib.

Involving me (2):
1. When I was a little kid going to a Cub Scout camp with my mum, another parent and her kid. We where about to pull onto a main roadway when we go rear-ended by a truck. No injuries, the only damage was that the trunk got jammed, which sucked because thats where the food and our gear was.

2. When I was 19, waiting to turn on to a main road (anyone else see a pattern?) I got rear-ended by an SUV (she was going to fast/frosty roads). No injuries but my car ('90 Geo Metro) was a write off.

Affecting me (1):

A good friend of my parents was killed by a tow mirror on a truck (that was NOT towing anything) when he was out riding his motorcycle. My parent friend was behind a slow moving commercial vehical, and went to the center line to see if it was clear to pass...

Been in three, and that's how I learned what little I know about fixing cars. I wasn't injured in any of them, just a bit pissed at my idiocy.

I got hit fairly hard when I was a kid, damn near killed me. Persistence on behalf of the paramedics and doctors as well as more then a bit of luck are the only reason I'm still around.

Eventually got back on my feet and things are mostly normal, just hurts to breathe sometimes.
and I'm glad you are...

[sub]I left the original cause I thought that it was funny...<.<[/sub]

I thought of you when I first saw this thread... but you don't venture far out of the Forum games section...

OT: got hit a couple times... once would've probably killed me but luck would have it that I was tall enough to roll over the top instead of actually get hurt... and the rest were really just more getting knocked over by a car than actually getting hit...<.<
Yeah people keep saying that. >.>

And I do when I see something interesting.

[sub][sub]Plus it's fun sharing some stories.[/sub][/sub]

Been in two, in my car, and two in my partner's car.
Mine:
First one was a drunk. Completely on my side of the road, and had a head-on collision. My airbag went off, but I was fine. She survived, but she trashed a car with commercial insurance (i.e. most likely a company car) and got escorted off by the police, so I can't image her life taking a turn for the better after that.
Second one was my fault. Thought the car would go onto the roundabout, it didn't, I was going a little too fast to stop. Driver wasn't too bothered about it, I took the blame, so that got sorted fairly fast.

First one in my partner's car was when he got a pair of new trainers. He told me to look at them, and he unwisely looked at them at the same time. A car was turning into the golf course we were passing - I made a funny yelp noise as I looked up and saw the stationery car. Unfortunately he couldn't stop in time. D'oh.
Second one... same thing happened to him. He was stopped to turn, and a car who wasn't looking shunted him up the rear. Fortunately the guy knew he wasn't paying proper attention and accepted fault.

Minor incidents: Reversed my car into a bent pole that used to be a gatepost in a carpark - made a hole in my bumper from the sticky out bit :/
Partner bumped into a post in a car park. Was kinda daydreaming, and it surprised me. Made a bit of a scratch on his bumper.

I wrecked my car the day before Christmas.
I had a Malibu crash into my drivers door at 55 miles an hour.

After I walked out of that one without a scratch I value my life so much more and demand so much more from me for my life.

The crash cost me my job then later my apartment. I ended up moving up to Tallahassee with my GF in her apartment. I now have a much better job and we are now married.

So I supposed I have to partially thank that idiot in the Malibu for making things so much better than they were back then.

I've been in a car crash coming off a duel carriageway, so it was around 45mph, funnily enough about 60 meters from the Main Hospital.
The brakes stopped working, what made it more terrifying was the fact I was exactly 24 weeks pregnant at the time.

Since then, driving and being a passenger has made me extremely nervous, even more so when my Daughter is in the car, too. I hold my breath when people brake behind a car. I'd much rather and so take a train everywhere instead, I feel so much safer.

Well, I was ten at the time of this one. I started my day by trying to hop the fence in the back garden because I was a little sod and was trying to get out when I was grounded. I slipped and smashed my head open on the bottom of it.

So I ran inside calling for my mother, when I slipped (couldn't see, blood in my eyes) and hit the sofa. My tooth went through the skin just under my bottom lip.

So we got in the car and stopped at a traffic light. Suddenly this prick in his muscle car realizes that yes, it does take time to slow down from 70 and rear ends us and we hit the woman in front of us.

Correction, man. He gets out and see's if we were ok, then gets back into the car because his wife at the time was expecting a baby very soon, like later that day soon.

^^^

That was a wonderful day. I can't remember most of it, only the three major events.

Years ago, when I was about 8 or 9, I was playing at my cousins house, I saw a wrecked red car being dragged down my cousins drive way being towed my my uncle. The car was the same red one that my dad was driving at the time. How did this happen? My dad hit a cow, apparently it just ran out from a field onto the road, caught my dad off guard and he hit it. The cow was sent rolling over the roof, it crushed the front of the car and landing behind it. Although, the only injuries my dad got, were whip lash, and a few cuts and gashes.

I myself, I've only been involved in one car accident, a motorbike hit the side of our family car. No one was hurt except fot the driver of the bike, who was knocked unconscious but he was wearing a helmet so it could have turn out a lot worse for him. Also all of the car windows wear smashed during the impact.

Never been at fault in an accident. Been rear-ended like five times, only once seriously (totaled the car, had whiplash).

I'm one of those obnoxiously cautious drivers though who rarely goes over the speed limit and doesn't enter traffic unless there's like a mile of space in both directions.

Well me and my dad got in one together that wasn't our fault. This was back when i was 11 and going to my baseball game, we were passing through an intersection on a yellow light in a Chevy Silverado, and this tiny little nissan sentra turned right in front of us, we hit her so hard it rolled her car over. and i had bruises from the seatbelt and airbag but thats about it.

When I was learning to drive, I crashed my mum's car. I had about 30 hours of lessons and we were just practising on some quiet roads, I was really nervous, in 4th gear and took a corner that was really sharp. There was a Jaguar on the other side of the road and I just went right into it. Their car was pretty much fine, just a broken headlight, but my mum's car just crumpled and ended up a write-off. No one was hurt though.

I can drive now but no one will insure me x)
