I was wondering about that, it looked too mannish to be a women and too female to be a man, made it hard to pay attention to the review since I kept wondering about it, now I know and knowing is half the battle
She's not an it.
I wasnt referring to her when I said "it", I was referring to the review
You said "it looked too mannish to be a woman" the review did?
oh that one, didnt see that one, well I suppose I used a genderless term rather then risk getting it wrong
"It" is the transexual N Word (essentially). Though usually offensive, some transexuals dont mind being called shemale or tranny (more likely if they are in porn though). But not "it".
fuck I dont know, I was still mostly talking about the review and didnt mean it against her or anything, Im suprised this is the aspect of my post you people are attached to, I was thinking it would be the part where I said not knowing was kinda throwing me
I was just being informative. But the way you said it, according to english, you meant her as it. But I hate people who intentionally are bigots against transexuals than the person who's ignorance makes them say stupid things unintentionally.

what I meant was to refer to the video but apparently it didnt come out that way which is a problem I have with my communication.... I guess, personally I got nothing against then and Im annoyed when people do hate people for something stupid like that, gender identity should be one of those stupid little things that no one cares about, if your in the wrong body fine, you should be free to change it, its retarded its an issue at all

Well, we live in a world where one's humanity is a political stance.

I rather that Carolin not do video reviews. Carolin's presence just takes away too much focus off the game. The review for Noire wasn't Carolin's first. But when watching the Noire I just couldn't watch for more than a minute. I had to close it as soon as I recognized Carolin's voice.

I think it's great that she isn't afraid to go in front of a camera. She shouldn't be ashamed of who she is. Screw the youtube comment section.

When I watched the review for L.A. Noire on Gamespot, I was a little surprised at the reviewer. At first I was not sure if she was a he or a she, then I thought it must be transgender and I pretty much stopped caring. She didn't do a bad job with the review and got me interested in the game so I'm not complaining.

It's not just a few comments he's showing here that are rude, I saw the video the other day and I'd say a majority of them were along those lines.

Though of course I massively disagree with the ignorant disgusting commenters, I have to say that I would have preferred someone else to do the review. I have nothing against trans gender people, but I found her voice massively distracting, as well as her unusual appearance every time she was on camera, and I couldn't pay attention to the actual review at all. Not something I'm necessarily proud of, but the truth. Also I feel like Gamespot intentionally chose her because she was transgender and it would bring attention through controversy, which is despicable.

1. Why are these people being so insincere?
Because transexuality is perceived to be a little disgusting. Probably due to the sheer difference. Humans don't like things that are different. That is why racism, sexism and homophobia exist. It's awful, and lots of us are better than that - but this hatred/fear of difference has a basis in evolution.

Trezu said:
2. what do you make out of all of this?
Not really surprised. As I said, people jump on difference very quickly. It's also on Youtube, where most people who leave comments are assholes. It's also the internet, and people don't have to face consequences for what they say.

Trezu said:
3. Why do people take the time to ***** about the gender in the comments rather then discuss the game ?
Because it's more interesting to them. I'm sure they took into account what she/he said, they probably just chose to be assholes and leave an abusive comment.

1) It's very early so when I saw the title my brain instantly thought "Wait what? Transsexual games?"
2) That is Youtube, do not expect basic understanding of human culture.
3) If people cannot judge the review on the merits of the quality and not the reviewer they are doing it wrong.

I wont begrudge people living their lives as they want fair enough free of persecution.

but that being said I dont care what the law says HE isnt a SHE if your DNA has XY in it your male as far as Im concerned.

my biggest worry is that HE will think HE is a SHE and doesnt have to inform people until "AFTER" HE is in aserious relationship with them. thats not just unfair to other person but out right dangerous depending on who they are invovled with.

and now Im going to get flamed by people thinking Im biggoted and unfair yadda yadda.

1. It's youtube, AKA Troll central.
2. Whether you have or have had a penis (or vagina) has nothing to do with your ability to review games. Ms. Petit is a reveiwer, and a damn good one, her genitals do not concern me. If you found out tomarrow Yahtzee had a vagina would you give a fuck? I wouldn't.
3.See the answer for your first question.

I used to be transphobic, until I done opened my mind, kids. People have free will. If a person is uncomfortable as the gender they were born to, they should be free to decide to live in a way that best suits them. Also, there's some genetics and shit to it. Like, I think I read that many pre-transgendered people tend to have more of the opposite hormone or something, I dunno. All I know is, if you're not happy, you should do what's right for you. I support it and so should you, if you value a person's right to personal choice.

Whassamatta? Really, whassamatta? Too abnormal for you? You scared, dawg? If I can overcome my bigoted transphobia and respect these people on the most basic of levels, so can you. Watch more stuff about transgender people, featuring transgender people. the more exposure you have to groups and people who make you uncomfortable, the easier it gets. Just some advice for those of you who can't seem to watch her review.

Another tip: trans folks prefer to be referred to as the gender they wish to or have become. Don't call another human being an "it."
