Hello escapist. I have heard from [redacted] that you fine folks are experts in the arts of carpet cleaning. A few days ago I was out with some fine friends of mine enjoying a nice old cocktail or two or twenty and I may have had a little too much.

Long story short I came home and puked on my carpet (and a little bit on my sofa). The carpet wasn´t the main target of the volatile exchange mind you my trusty old coffeetable had that honor and luckily that was easy peasy to clean up.

I of course cleaned up the actual pizzasauce as fast as I could but I can´t seem to get the smell out. So here´s my question to you fine people, how do I get puke smell out of a carpet (and a little bit of sofa)? I would rather not have to throw either one away and I would also like to avoid being the guy who has an apartment that smells like vomit.

You go tell [redacted] to stop spreading such filthy lies!

But since I'm here I'd say you borrow a wet cleaning vacuum... or whatever you call them, the kinds that dispense washing fluid and then suck it all up. I don't know if anyone in your neighbourhood has one or any nearby shop, but if you just borrow/rent it for the day to fully clean the sofa and carpet things shouldn't be too expensive and these do an excellent job on stuff like this.

I sadly do not have access to one of these wet cleaning vacuums so I ended up showering the smitten bits with some water and a good dose of detergent. It didn´t work and now I am minus one carpet. Cleaning the bits of sofa with textile cleaner worked splendidly though. At least as far as I am aware. I´ll just have to wait and see if my next guests can smell that sweet hot ´n sour mixture.

1) Go to the grocery store
2) Get some baking soda
3) Shake onto smelly part and do something else for a few hours
4) Vacuum up and then throw out the bag
