Turns out she went out like a rockstar.

Cocaine, ecstasy, heroin, and meth. Any one of these could have killed her easily, but she had ALL FOUR! I was hoping that her death, though her earlier abuse would have been a factor, would not be directly attributed to recent abuse, but toxicology doesn't lie. Leia went to the moon. She just didn't land on her feet.

I heard she was drowned in moonlight, strangled by her own bra.

Point of order: Methamphetamine and Methodone are very different drugs, with the former being colloquially known as "meth", and the latter used to treat cocaine and heroin addiction. Methadone was found in her system, not meth.

Also:
The autopsy report notes the significance of the "multiple substances that were detected in Fisher's blood and tissue" with regard to the cause of death could not be established.
I mean, Christ, it lists sleep apnea as a significant factor.

Which is not surprising at all when you consider that opiates (heroin in this case) causes muscle relaxation that leads to breathing depression. If you do opiates and go to sleep your usual sleep apnea (temporary pauses in breathing while sleeping) is suddenly a lethal condition as your body might not have enough muscle control to get your torso musculature to compress your lungs again during one of those pauses.

Well sure, and sleep apnea can contribute to causing sudden heart failure, which is what happened.

Remus was making it sound like Fisher OD'd.

Carrie Fisher has always seemed like a "Fuck you I'm gonna do what I want" kind of gal. It doesn't surprize me that she went out like a rockstar.

I'm kinda confused by the, I dunno, congratulatory atmosphere? Reading this topic was bizarre.

I'm sure it'd be better if she lived another 20 years, no matter how good getting high was right before her body started dying.

Oh well it's her life I suppose. It's too bad.

That aside, I'd been led to believe there was actually a controversy surrounding this. Something about the news tarnishing her good name or something? I'm glad to see that it hasn't infected this forum yet. From an outsider's perspective, it sounded ridiculous.
