Oh god, cars. I grew up around them, and since I lived in a hick town in the middle of nowhere they really were one of the few points I had in common with a lot of the people from around there. Oddly I became enamored with SUVs and pickups more than the usual supercars, but that sure as shit didn't stop me from finding and loving speed-tuned ones that could smoke Corvettes and Ferraris(The GMC Typhoon is fucking awesome and now I'm sad because I almost got one but couldn't because I was broke when I found it D: ). Hell, about a year ago I created a similar thread here because I'd just purchased one of my favorite cars I'd known(and on one occasion, killed the battery of) since I was a little kid: a second-generation Chevy S10 Blazer. It's the right blend of cute, tough, and capable in the worn-down roads over here(many are actually gravel) and they're endlessly customizable. Hell, Ruby just survived an accident too, with the cost of the grille, left headlight assembly, and front bumper replacements totaling at around $250, using parts from the local junkyard. That's pretty damn cheap as far as car repairs are concerned. Plus, she maneuvers with a turning circle that's as tight as my old Saturn wagons' while having none of the coffee-grinder engine and much less poor build quality. It may cost me a bit more on gas than those ones(about 5 MPG worth) but I like having a car that holds together nicely and doesn't stab me in the back when I drive it(seriously).

The cars I tend to like are American Muscle and Hatchbacks and Civics. When it comes to luxury cars, my favourites are Porsche, Mustang and BMW.

My all time favourite car is...and don't ask me why as I am sure most car lovers find it ugly, I have just always loved it. My grandfather used to own one, so that is probably why. I have been in one many times, but I've never driven one, as I was only a kid. I am more into Motorcycles, but this is my dream car.

Hey Rose! Been a while. Still love GM's ol' G-body muscle cars I see. I still quite like those ones as well, and even more so since I've had the privilege of driving an actual example(my friend's dad's restored '86 Monte, in deep purple no less! :D) and I gotta say, they're really fun, and sexy. I just love the sound of the rumbling V8 under that thing's hood.

Also, if anyone here has a taste for cars, toilet humor, obscure literary references, or any combination of the three, I heartily suggest you watch a few of these:

They make my day whenever he posts a new one, and while the guy reviews everyday cars(mostly), the 'reviews' tend to take a different approach not unlike Yahtzee's, with a comparable gap between ZP and normal game reviews. They're equal parts informative, hilarious, and fairly disturbing :3

I gave up my muscle car.....A 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8. It was pretty sweet but stupid expensive to keep gas in. Plus, it had some fit and finish problems that shouldn't be happening in a $46k car. I went with something a bit more practical, a 2013 Subaru Impreza Sport Limited Hatchback. It's fun little car. It doesn't have much power but is comfortable and handles quite well. In order to retain my cool guys points, I still have my 2012 Harley Switchback. It's more bike than I need but it's fairly cheap to own and lots of fun when it isn't snapping bones in my wrist.

Cars and humans kinda go hand in hand these days. Our cars are now our noble steeds (petrol) or our trusted donkey (diesel). We use them on a daily basis and we spend a lot of our time in them and often take them for granted so i thought id ask you guys what cars mean to you?

Personally I like small fast cars. I have a small (1.1 tons) hatchback that has a pokey 2 litre 200bhp engine. I wouldnt say im a boy racer but I like to drive fast in certain circumstances when it is safe to do, sometimes its a refreshing change from the humdrum of a city commute to just blast it down a winding country road

You dont have to know the difference between a supercharger and a turbocharger (although bonus internets if you do) you just have to tells us what you like about cars. You might have a 1 litre hatchback or you might have a 6.2 litre V8 monster I dont care, I think we should celebrate all cars. A cheap gutless car at the age of 17 can often be some the fondest motoring memories

So share us your stories, tell us a bit about your car? Or maybe even a picture (ill try and get one of mine)

Edit: here is a stock picture of a car that looks a lot like mine
clio rs in the picture?
my friend at work has the megane rs in white it looks great!
my older brother has a focus rs and it is in my opinion, the best looking hatch out there. it sounds great too!

one problem that has come to my attention with these hot hatches is they are a bit delicate.
both my friend and my older brother have had clutch failure on their cars (too much power assumedly)
my friend with the megane had a gearbox driveshaft failure too. that's pretty poor considering its only a few years old.

anyway on to me....
I drive a rover 25....wicked....
in my defence I did a Porsche once. he was doing 50 on a dual carriageway, I signalled, pulled out, overtook him at 55 :D

Is that related to your avatar? :D

I don't agree with you though calling the 2010 Challenger or any modern American sports car a muscle car. Mustle cars' most prominent feature was being cheap. They just put a huge V8 into a family sedan and that was it. If you wanted to make a muscle car now you'd have to put the engine of a Dodge Viper in a Chrysler 200 without giving it its chassis, suspension and brakes...

Nobody wants an abomination like that D:

Edit: I forgot that the Viper has a V10. But you get my point. Cheap.

Yeah its a clio R.S. The one pictured isnt mine but its similar (also white). Ive not had any problems with mine (touch wood) but its only 20,000 miles. I love hot hatches the megane, clio and even the twingo are all great. The fiestas and focuses are great too. I have to agree the focus R.S is one of the best cars ever. Looks great and goes like shit off a shovel. The new shape ST and rumoured R.S I think look a bit more suited to a school run, a few mks of the golf GTI have been the same. The old ST and RS were full blown yobbo mobiles

The clio just stood out to me. Its small with a big engine and it handles really well and it looks pretty. its a great little car but its very thirsty

No problem! :3 I think you might like his Suzuki Bandit review too. It's pretty much the sequel to the GS500 one!

Amazing... That painfully long tangent he goes off to about the balance between having loads of sex and trying too hard... Pure poetry... Thank you again :D

I drive a 2002 Ford Taurus that I inherited from my grandfather. I tried to look up the stats which tell me I either have 155 or 200 hp. It doesn't matter much because between the automatic transmission and the sheer weight of the damn thing (3,408 pounds), it drives and handles like a beast. It's a pain to park (but not as bad as our 2002 Bonneville), the mileage sucks (but not as bad as Bonnie) and it isn't much fun to drive (unlike Bonnie). It does have a sunroof, which is nice, but it's hard to see why this thing was worth around $30,000 when it came out.

I must also add that the fabric upholstery in combination with my sweater means that it always shocks me when I get out. It makes me paranoid at the fuel pumps since you hear all the horror stories of lighting it up like Hiroshima because you got a shock at the most inopportune moment. The power steering wasn't installed correctly at the factory meaning it's failed twice, both times in transit. I've managed to kill the battery twice because two light settings are identical but one keeps them on until you turn them off even when the car is off. It has an overdrive gear that makes it a really numb ride, but it does raise the mileage from abysmal to okay.

My sister and I played foster parents for three kittens that always took really massive craps that somehow managed to get on the upholstery, but that's another story.

At least it can handle my three closest friends and their cargo in the positively cavernous trunk.

I have to say that I'm not too fond of Fords after driving this.

I have to say that I'm not too fond of Fords after driving this.

Funny story. My father is a foreman in quality control in the Ford plant in Cologne, Germany, and was buddies with a former head manager for that plant. That head manager was in the USA for a conference and got to talking with his cab driver over his new Ford (Crown Vic I'd think). When the cabbie learned that he had a Ford head honcho in the back he was like "Oh, this new Ford here is awesome, it only broke down twice in the first year". The manager turned white in the face as did my father when he told him that story. Even though taxi cabs are special because of the huge distances they run both of them, my father and that manager, would be forced to do harakiri if it was considered good if cars from their plant only broke down twice in a year. What you mentioned about the power steering would cause a veritable shitstorm here. :D

Regarding the static electricity while tanking, I wouldn't worry about that. Tanks and inlets have been made from plastic for decades now for exactly that reason. Even if the fumes in the tank combust (which is like a one in one hundred million chance) the tank is designed to at most deform a little, not burst. Plus the ring around the inlet where the cap locks into is earthed so there shouldn't be happening anything. You only should worry maybe a teeny little bit if that ring is like really rusted, then you should replace it.
