Thanks.

The first list is a very good example of what they could've added, except maybe the WoW expansions. Although WoW is an exceptional game, they're just expansions.

Lol, I agree.
True enough with the WoW expansions but they did let in the Half Life 2: Episode 1, which is an expansion and pretty much only in there to name drop Half Life 2, not because of its own merit.

*looks at quarterfinals; sees Skyrim took out Shadow of the Colossus*

I hope this was educational. ;p
Well, I guess that showed us. Quick, back to the R&P forum, where we can make baseless statements and accuse anyone who disagrees of trolling!

One of the most Bias polls/surverys I've ever seen in my life. Half the time while making selections it the process would crash, and the selections were horrible. I guess I didn't make the right muppet choices.

A drag and drop from best to worst games and you'd get an HONEST result, providing that is what your interested in.
There's really no need to be so hostile. This was never meant to be anything other than a bit of fun - an entertaining enterprise to celebrate our birthday.
I'd be a little surprised to hear you guys weren't expecting this kind of reaction to it. I mean, fun or not, you've had March Madness how many years now? You have to know the kind of vitriol these things bring out in people, silly though it is. Not saying it's how people should react, but were you really expecting it not to happen?
Sigh...yes, I was surprised. I'm continually surprised at the amount of anger and venom that gets shot at us over stuff like this. I'm regularly surprised by the sheer number of people who treat us like we're assholes simply because we did something in a way other than the way they'd do it. I probably shouldn't be, but I am.

Actually I think people are just blindly voting against Blizzard for some reason. Diablo III's politics are bad, but the game is really good. I found Crysis to be an excellent tech demo, but a crappy game experience. It was really pretty but soulless.

Also, can anyone explain why Limbo and Bastion are on here? I've tried both games and they're good but hardly triple A contenders and not worth paying for. I understand when people want to down vote a game they have to choose the other no matter what it is, but i'm still not understanding the results.
I don't want to go into detail here but D3 is an excellent game but only for normal and nightmare for soloplayer and hell for co-op. Where D3 fails is the endgame. So D3 is good but is unable the generate the D2 item surge.

Crysis is a good shooter with the positive side that there are no Arabian terrorist and a fun mechanic with the suite power.

So I would say its a tie.

Mass Effect all the way, although it should be Mass Effect 1. Also prefer Fallout 3 to Skyrim, but that's a personal preference. Skyrim is arguably the better game, I just prefer post apocalyptic sci fi to fantasy. I think Skyrim will benefit a lot from only having been released a year ago, so it will unfortunately probably be a Skyrim v Portal final. Still a good battle.

Why is Portal so acclaimed though? I mean, it was a great game, but the immense praise it gets is verging on ridiculous. It was fun for a few hours and it was pretty impressive how simple yet gripping it was, but it's not like it was the gaming experience of a life time, like I felt with the Mass Effect trilogy.

Okay. Seriously, Escapist... what the hell is going on here? You have this event, but don't announce each round. Not only that, but there is nowhere on the front page of the site to get to the voting bracket: I had to dig through the news to find the announcement from last round. Is the person who usually handles site updates on vacation or something?

You have more faith in people than I do, then, Susan. I gave up on surprise at the amount of bile-spewing people will do (over the internet or otherwise) about the most petty things a while ago. I applaud your continued optimism, even if I can't share it!

I am still shocked by the level of stupidity some people can demonstrate at times, though. I only stumbled across the whole Verizonmath thing this week, for instance, and was dumbfounded by it.

This right here is what I'm saying, there was next to no publicity about this. How were the majority meant to vote?
I agree in essence, but in the long run I doubt it would've made any difference as to who won.

Agreed. I only got to vote on three rounds - first and last included. The only ways of getting to vote are the 7YS Forum, digging through the site to somehow get to the bracket - or of course bookmarking it. None of which is too ... user-friendly. But the EXPO (which is still two bloody months ahead) gets its splatter? ... Meh. Disappoint.

Exactly! ive only voted in two rounds and also had to search the site before i could get there

its not a big deal who wins anyway but this poll/voting is honestly not advertised properly... maybe its because of the new layout that thay mucked it up somehow

I'm still sadden that Red Dead Redemption didn't get as far in votes as it did.

Sure it was GTA:Horses.. but damn, the story line and the characters are ones I still remember strongly today. Other then that; Garrus and Wrex - and sadly Wrex was mostly from ME1.

Skyrim the best game in 7 years? Jesus. People really like that game, eh? I don't really see how it's any better from the likes of Morrowind...

I used to get upset when Link beat Cloud on the Gamefaqs Summer Battle, but then you get stuff like Farmville and Modern Warfare breaking all these records, you realize that numbers can't dictate how much you enjoy a game.

My elitist choice for best PC game would be Mirror's Edge. For fun: Crysis or Fallout 3. Hundreds of hours logged on both.

Well, maths shows us that:
Portal > (Skyrim = poop) < Oblivion
So therefore, Portal is the best game ever.

I would have probably guessed this outcome, but the voting doesn't work from one to another. A fraction of my bracket was not filled out :(
