Hello all. Just got Cataclysm and I've not played WoW since Febuary 2010. What's the first thing I should do? :) also any suggestions just for some good stuff to do when I play it would be awesome!

Run, before you notice how hard WoW have went downhill. Best not look back. The mighty one has fallen very deep and hit rock bottom very hard.

On a less bitter sidenote.. Go quest Hyjal. Pretty nice place.

You'll be bored before you even hit 85 and once you do you'll just quit. I don't even know what to recommend, Vashj'ir is nice I guess (in a "unique for WoW" way)

Vash'jir.

I cannot recommend that zone enough.

It's the most fun I've ever had with that game.

(NOTE: I don't raid, as I don't have the time, I'm talkin' solo stuff. But do make sure you do the dungeon at the end of it, as it actually rounds up the story, which is actually pretty good.)

Vash'jir seems to be the place then :) or just unsubscribing and burning all my game discs on a huge pyre lol I know WoW threads are always like this, no matter what expansion pack the game is on, there's always people who say the game was better before this or that however there does seem to be more people being negaive about Cata than anything else. Is there any particular reason why?

I doubt we can change your mind, you'll see for yourself what we mean. WoW's been stagnating since wotlk launched.

It depends of what you want to do. If you're more of a PvP-er, just do some quest and go PvP and QQ about the unfair advantages other classes have.

If you're a PvE-er (like I was), don't bother. By the time you'll be optimised for the latest raid tier, the new expansion'll have hit the shelves (or it will be close to).

WoW is a game that needs to be played on length, casual and hardcore alike. If you don't invest enough time (and money :p), it's useless to play. Or maybe, if you just wxant to discover all the new quests, by all means, resubscribe for a month or two, start a new char and explore. :)

Go roll a Goblin or Worgen, they have some pretty neat starting zones.

Some of the redone old world zones are pretty sweet. Make a human and do Westfall/Redridge again cos they're very good now. Oh, and 1k needles is awesome, go check that out when you hit 40 ish.

Endgame though its mostly the same old crap though. Reliance on other people knowing what they're doing hinders most of the fun you'll have. The new dungeons (80-85 ones) are well worth a look though.

I played on some of the cataclysm areas ages ago. And I absolutely hated every bit of it. It sucked some major donkey ass. The rest of WoW, Brilliant, not a single complaint about it. Cataclysm. No, just no.

1. Get to level 85 via hyjal,
1.25. enjoy most of the content,
1.5. get board when you've done everything.
1.75. realise that game has gotten worse.
2. Log onto battle.net
3. Cancel subscription

It's what I did. I'm going great. :3

I made this mistake. Really, just don't go back, it's not worth it.

i went to hyjal but lots of people have a thing for vashj'ir. i definitely want to finish that storyline as well. i kinda skipped deepholm cause finishing hyjal and some dungeons got me ready for uldum and halfway through uldum i went for twilight highlands. finishing uldum now and after gonna do highlands and the other zones. i chose hyjal cause it of the storyline, vashj'ir seemed like a more separate thing i could finish another time :)

Uldum, Hyjal and Deepholm are great zones for leveling, they are pretty fun.
The new 5 man heroics... well I liked them a lot, the music/ambience is a big deal for me and those instance sure have that.
The new raids are nothing spectacular but can't hurt to check em out.
PvP is kinda lame with healers being unkillable 1v1.

But overall, it's good ol' WoW, you can have fun or not, it's up to you really, don't take our words for it. :p
