Any idea on whether Triss, Shani or Dandelion will be back in 2? Wonder if it the story incorporates the choices made at the tail end of one, or if it's entirely standalone.
The game does support 360 controller...but it doesn't look like any "dumbing down" has happened from it.

I dunno about Shani, but Triss and Dandelion will obviously be back; Triss *drools* has been shown in the trailers a lot. The game will also allow you to import your save file from the first game and choices from it will take effect in Witcher 2. Hell I've heard that depending on your decisions (from either game), you may not even SEE certain areas of the game.

The game is still pretty stand alone as its own story arc, but of course playing the first game helps. The first game was pretty complete by itself save for the sequel bait ending.

Wow, that's fantastic, thank you for the great info! I thought I had seen all the trailers but obviously I haven't!

**MAJOR SPOILER ALERT - MAJOR SPOILER ALERT - MAJOR SPOILER ALERT**
I think I have saves from one or two playthrus, romancing each of the two ladies and siding with each of the two factions at the end (but no way to know which is which). It will be interesting to see then how those choices/relationships start out and continue in 2. Curious if any of the conversations had with the boy (Alvin?) that shaped "The Guy" or his personality at the end will make any difference.

I am thinking, if the DLC market is made for ANTI "PAWN"/second hand game, why charge the "buyers" for them? they should have been free as long as players have the original game copy! only second hand copy should one have to pay for the DLCs!

THANKS HITCHER 2 DEV team!

More develoeprs need to do this. This especially annoyes me with games, where the content for the DLC is already on the disc and you just have to pay extra to get the DLC. I know Valve is doing the free DLC, which is awesome.

Further proof that the guys at CD Projekt are one of the bastions of hope in the gaming industry. Keep up the good work, guys! Keep fighting the good fight.

Witcher 1 was fantastically detailed and gave traditional fantasy RPG buffs something they could really sink their teeth into with a lot of depth and complexity.
It's just that it was so boring, sooooooo boring, Christ I cannot convey in words how much that game bored me, I couldn't possibly drag myself further in the game than the second play area because I started thinking about catching up on some work because that would have been more exciting than another second of the game.
So I really hope that they've fixed up that issue, and the dodgy translation, but I can't fault them for characters having weird accents since they're not a monolith that can afford -several- full staffs of voice actors.

Bump for new info. Giant Bomb asked "What's the difference between the DLC and "expansion packs"?" and CD Projekt has responded... [http://www.giantbomb.com/news/the-witcher-2-dlc-wont-cost-you-a-dime-but-expansion-packs-will-er-whats-the-difference/3203/]

In this case, the free downlodable content will encompass shorter and smaller additions, including "half-hour side quests, etc," according to a company spokesperson.

Bigger pieces of content would move into "expansion pack" territory, harkening to when "expansion pack" meant hours of content and often a retail product.

"The implication is that if we?re going to go ahead and charge for something, it?ll be significant content akin to the expansion packs of yesteryear," the spokesperson continued.
In other words, just like I said: expansion packs mean "enough content to sell on a disc on its own".

After all that interest, curiosity and looking forward to importing my save games, the only one I can find is one I remember intentionally making right after the initial/tutorial area in the original. Can't find any of my end game saves from either playthru :-(

On the subject of save games, does anyone have any endgame Witcher 1 saves they could send me along the following lines? Please PM me if you can. I'd love to see what differences it makes. Any of the below would be great and very much appreciated.

*** MAJOR SPOILER ALERT - MAJOR SPOILER ALERT ***
- Romanced Shani, Sided with the Order
- Romanced Shani, Sided with Scoia'tael
- Romanced Triss, Sided with Scoia'tael

And I hate Geralt's new voice; it doesn't suit him at all. But my word does the game look good.

Addendum: A little googling and I stumbled on this page [http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/975399-the-witcher-2-assassins-of-kings/58749065] which seems have quite a few saves with various combinations of choices. Not sure whether to go with a TW2 default playthru then import for a second, or try two different imported saves.
