I am disappointed by this thread's lack of Civ 4 mention.

The whole soundtrack is yummy and fitting but that opening song is just electric.

Oh no, I'm going to go home and play another game aren't I..?

I never played the game, but David Bowie did a couple of songs for 'Omikron' in the late 90s, which also appeared on his album 'Hours': https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iSIhX-VWhtQ

He even pops up in a couple of cutscenes as a cyborg thingamagick. I'm one of those people who think Bowie's 90s-2000s work is as good as his 70s stuff, so I dig it.

Fucking loved this soundtrack! And this is the track I had on repeat...

This, and the Bastion soundtrack are the only game soundtracks I listen too as a whole often.

Well... unless you cound Final Fantasy... I play Curtain Call a lot.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has some great tracks. I especially like Artificial Fear's metal version of some of them-

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has some great level music that hits me right in the childhood-
and of course

The Ar Tonelico series has some of the best vocal-centric music you'll find in a game. Most of the singing is done in a language made specifically for the game.

Technically a visual novel rather than a game, but Mahayo's music is pretty awesome. It's a prequel to Tsukihime, a visual novel set in the same universe as Fate/Stay Night(and the composer for Mahayo is the same one that worked on the ufotable Fate adaptations).

All of these soundtracks have found their way into my personal music library. They are all brilliant in different ways:

Persona 4

Silent Hill 2

Jet set radio future

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

My music library is mainly made up of video game soundtracks, and the ones I have mentioned in this post are just a few of them. I find that a good soundtrack can really alter your experience of a game. I am a bit of an audiophile.

How about something from Unreal Tournament 2004?

There's also Frank Klepacki's work on the Command & Conquer series.

I always remember this one from the spy-catching and Volkov missions for the Soviets:

And, of course, the one that brings back too many memories to name:

Sooo many custom maps, so many campaigns, so many people lost and saved. So many tanks, witches, hunters and hordes.
So worth it.
