It isn't about 'standards', it's about disagreeing with what's shoved in our faces. Paris Hilton, as an example, is often touted as a sex symbol, when I don't find the idea of sex with her even remotely appealing. It's a preference! Standards has nothing to do with it, it's about personal taste.
