this shit is banannas. why can't people just walk their dogs on a sidewalk or in a front lawn like normal people. dogs don't need entire parks.
But corpses do?

Whatever breed of dog she has that can dig six feet underground and through a wooden casket, I want one.

Good. Cemeteries are a waste of land that make death into a complicated and scary thing with their ceremonious nature.

The only dogs people bring to those parks are the big dogs who are very disiplined and really cool, or the tiny yappy dogs that are about have a foot tall and shit everywhere...like in my apartment complex.

Don't dogs uh, dig up bones? ._. I don't think making a cemetery into a DOG park is a very good idea...

You mean your dog can't do that? You should get a better dog.

If someone put a dog park on the cemetery in my hometown where my grandfather (also a war veteran) is buried, I'd get a tent and camp out in the graveyard, then if anyone came by with a dog in need of reliving itself i'd punt the thing over a fence.

"We are treating him pretty darn well, except for the poop," parks and recreation commissioner Sharon Troll told the Ventura County Star.
That's the fucking definition of disrespect.

Even if they clean it up after, it's still showing that these people don't give a damn about this guy. Sure, he's not that relevant now, but it's what he did, not what he does. A national hero stays a national hero. The park should be turned back into a cemetery, or all the bodies should be moved so somewhere where there isn't dog crap on the ground.

Foxnews? Well.... If FOX favours the deceased, then I will favour the dogs. Nothing personal James.

It may or may not be cursed, but they can just go ahead and do whatever they want with it. If it's a good plot of land, go right ahead. Eventually we are going to run out of space to bury dead folk, which is why I want to be fired into the Sun.

On one hand, it doesn't really seem to bother me.
On the other hand, I hate dogs.

At least, it didn't bother me until I saw this:

Rage time now.

With civilians, I still don't really care about destroying their cemeteries unless they were of great service to humanity, but destroying the cemeteries of those who served in the military, and essentially have to the majority of their life to serve for a country they believe in is just a stupid thing to do. Respect for history, much?

LEAVE MY MOM ALONE! HOW DARE YOU!
You have been around but now society will continue without you, you are literally left in the dust to rot and be ignored as nothing special and be forgotten, FOREVER. The least we can do if not show respect to the ones that have died, but to show some respect to the families still mourning their passing.
you (freaked out) people do realize that dogs temporarily crapping on grass that someone's buried well beneath isn't the same thing as crapping on the corpse itself...and you also realize that dead bodies crap themselves...and smell like crap...and are destined to be fertilizer, ie. crap.

Crap is death itself, but it's also recycling, revivification, from unused cemetery to park for people and animals to convene. There is nothing more respectful to the dead than to go on living, and anyone who's ever been to a dog park knows intimately how those places are nothing but celebrations of life.

So you find solace in the ritual of burial and postmortem name-tags. But that instinct is only subjectively justifiable. You've the right to burry your own, but none over any other's dead body. The only 'uproar' is over some unknown vet--not the person, but the abstract idea of heroism and patriotism. Even if you buy into that crap, the fantasy that these bodies must be venerated in this trite way for an eternity, or as long as the US exists, is undeniably quite silly and out of touch. I say trite because any good ritual is one that is repeated. Burial is meaningful only if you visit the grave and not if you feel that the tombstone does the work of respect for you after you've dug the pit.

The mania about solders' bodies is only because they are used so fully by the state to the point of blowing them up into unidentifiable bits which in turn are often irretrievable. The state tries to justify its thorough use of its citizens' bodies by guaranteeing them a special spot in the ground which it can't always make good on. Thus the hypersensitivity about those it does get to burry whole.

Anyway, just take this as food for thought, if you happen to feel hungry...

Ugh, once again the Escapist provides with "edgy opinion is cool" mindset.

What's the big deal? The dead don't need the land, so you might as well put it to some actual use.
Because some people get piece of mind by visiting the grave of their dead loved ones. It's not the dead who need or use the land, it's their family and friends. If someone were to build a dog park over my friends or family who are dead I would be horrendously upset.

Wait...Sharon Troll. There's something fishy about all this...

As for the disrespect, some people have quite aptly pointed out that it's the -living- who are being dis-respected here, not the dead. (Unless of course the dead are just standing around waiting for people to disrespect them just so they can tell them off and rise from their graves.) After someone dies, all the hoo-hah and rigmarole with the rites and mourning and caskets and tombstones are oddly enough not for the benefit of the deceased, but for his or her still living relatives and mourners. It's to make -them- feel better and help them get past the person's death.

So, I can see why there'd be a stink about people using it as a dog park. However, not being a particularly spiritual person, I don't see the fuss about respecting the corpse of a long dead hero. By all means, respect their memory in your own way, I just don't think it makes one lick difference to the deceased either way.

I don't mind them reusing the land as a dog park. The people in it are long dead. As long either they move the bodies or create memorials to them somewhere else so the memory (which is the important bit) lives on then it's fine. To be honest, cemetary's do take up a lot of space and a plate with the person's name on just as good a memory and will last longer then the body.

Well then we have a choice we can get rid of homes for the dead or other nonused land like golf courses. I am not sure how I feel on this I am too busy trying to get an image out of my head.

Get the stick boy get the stick! Wait stop digging! No! Oh...crap, you know you can't keep that right boy? WOOF!

When I die I don't give a shit what people do with my body. Its not mine any more.

Stop worrying about dead guys and just let the dogs play. It'll only be a problem if the bodies get dug up or if people are too scared to go on the park, making the invested money a waste.
