I can tell everyone that what ever reasoning everyone has is irrelevant. Torrenting and downloading via progs like uTorrent is here to stay. The genie is out of the bottle and it cannot be put back in, ever. The RIAA, the MPAA, all the rest are all completely and absolutely fucked on this issue. No government can stop it. Hell, it even still happens in China and they have the worst police state in the world! I laugh at fools who think they can even dent this. Considering that The Pirate Bay has 3,436,118 registered users and 21,383,714 peers (9.623.736 seeders + 11.759.978 leechers) in 1,661,316 torrents on IPv4 trackers I would say it is a little to fucking late to try to stop this freight train. The war against torrenting has all ready been lost. The media companies just don't want to admit it to themselves.

in response to the new OP:
it's the beginning of the bloody end. i am just hoping i can manage to pack myself up and leave before the western hemisphere collapses under its own corruption and bastardization of ideals. if things don't get better soon, the situation is slowly going to unwind by itself... and right now it looks to me as more of a 'when' than an 'if'.

the danish government has pulled stunts that have been on the borderline of the human rights treaties, and the general danish attitude towards foreigners has become fearful and rejecting. the reason? bigotry and prejudice from the high seats of a political party. the country is struggling to uphold values of an old world, values that will not work with our present day and future cosmopolitan outlook. as a direct result of these values, the people have become reclusive and the politics have become increasingly xenophobic.

the things seen here; the removal and censorship of internet sites, the useless pride of free speech are not acceptable. more importantly, those same things serve as the first warning of a government that is fearful of losing control. at best, with more publicity, they are digging their own grave. at worst, a manipulative authoritarian grip on the nation will be established.

there's a long way until the next term, but there are changes i am hoping will influence the government enough to see that it cannot continue down this road. and as much as i want to fight for what i believe in, it comes down to this: i don't care enough for the nation or for politics to have a stake in this conflict.

This censorship crap has to stop. Seriously, we pay for the damn internet, now we can't even see what we want on it?
