I'm inclined to agree. It's a bad idea.

1) Why does every single relationship have to be sexual? Crimeny, can't they be friends?

2) This whole "Every character not engaged in a heterosexual relationship is secretly gay" is starting to get ridiculous. I mean, Dan Slott was joking about this in Great Lakes Avengers.

The people who put that up are so dumb I could cry. They don't get it, and they never will. That sounds like something a extreme homophobe would say, so nice effort, but you suck really badly.

I HAVE A THING. THIS THING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE WORLD. I WANT TO WAVE MY THING IN YOUR FACE AND RUB YOUR NOSE IN IT.

It doesn't matter if the above statement refers to a hobo and his penis, a WBC minister and his religion, or an animal rights activist and his pictures of slaughtered cows-- its annoying.

Lets take a show targeted at 2-4 year olds and bring complex concepts of sexuality to the forefront.

When Jerry Falwell declared that the teletubbies were gay, everyone treated him with abject derision. When the morons at change.org do it, I see only gentle derision. I think both positions are quite stupid.

How great it is to force two age old characters into a sexual pigeon hole. Why are they gay? Because they are two male puppets who share the same room? Isn't that a bit sexist and discriminatory of you to say change.org?

How progressive of you. To use your own prejudices about two characters to further you political agenda. Now I would have nothing against 2 new gay characters, be they humans or puppets. Though even then their sexuality will never be discussed because sex is not a Sesame Street topic.

How would you even explain this to children that young? I didn't know about sex when I was 4. I certainly wouldn't have wanted to have Grover suddenly turn around and start saying:

"A man shagging a woman is called sex. There are many forms of sex and it can also happen between two men or women. Sometimes when there are allot of people doing it at the same time and in the same room it is an orgy."

You see what I mean? Sex is a fucked up topic that needs ALLOT of careful attention, not a token wedding on a children show. 4 years old is not the place to start with this.

These are Bert and Ernie, two friends who learned me how fun it is to fantasize about being different animals.

Keep your dirty politics away from that.

It doesn't have to be about sex you can make it about love.
Just show an adult gay couple, tell them that sometimes men love other men, sometimes women love other women and leave it at that.

So basically teach them nothing?

Have you thought about how a child perceives love? If you tell a child that two men or women can love each other the same way that Mommy and Daddy love each other they won't understand. They will just think that that means they are very good friends and like to play together, they might also wrestle from time to time like Mommy and Daddy.

My now 9 year old niece used to tell allot of people that she loved them, this was back when she was 3. You know what she meant? She enjoyed playing in the sandbox with people. It didn't mean she was interested in engaging a relationship with you, it meant she didn't know another word for liking someone or could express complex sentences like "I enjoyed playing with you, shall we say tomorrow at 2 PM again James?".

Just to give you an example that talking about the idea of love between people will go over their heads about as much as Quantum Mechanics would.
