I'll probably get hate for this, but I wish more series were like the Final Fantasy series. To explain, look at the Final Fantasy games. Other than direct sequels (X-2, XIII-2) they have different characters, settings, and even the battle system is reworked each games. Sure, you could say they have sucked recently, but at least they are trying to do something different and not just putting out the same game over and over again with very minimal changes and a few new weapons/enemies added (I'm looking at you Halo).

I'd also like to see more shooters go back to the older style. Sure, its fine to have these generic war shooters like Call of Duty (which I do like) and Battlefield, but that doesn't mean you only make those. We could really use more diversity in every genre, actually.

The scythe was in NG3... AS DLC, same as the claws. It pisses me off, as does the Wii U version. Team Ninja cut out dismemberment (which was a massive part of the combat in NG 2, enemies missing limbs behaved differently) because gamers today don't want it, same team that cut the blood out of Sigma 2 and replaced it with wispy, purple gas or something (no joke).

Ninja Gaiden 3 really pissed me off, I considered myself a massive fan of NG 1 & 2 but after NG 3 and the joke that is the new game (Ninja Gaiden z or something), they can go piss up a rope for all I care.

Make someone else the protagonist of the next God of War. Seriously, there is nothing left worth exploring of the youth, life, death and afterlife of Kratos... If they want to make it more of a hit, take the Prototype route and market that at some point your character will fight Kratos himself.
And have a decent writer takes care of the character and the story. In most of the recent games, the character is so one-dimensional it was hard to believe he was ever the commander of anything.

A realistic shooter game that IS realistic. Meaning, no regenerating health, can't take more than a few bullets, accuracy is for crap if you get shot in the arms, headshot is instant death, die and you go back to the start (AKA "no in-mission checkpoints"), taking people alive is rewarded while killing gets you reprimanded.

AKA, how about we get another SWAT game? I got into SWAT 4 thanks to Spoony's Let's Play, and it really is a great game that hits the realism button hard. Any one of those missions could easily have been ripped from the front page of a newspaper. Religious fanatics storm into cloning research facilities, militants take over a building and plant bombs, gangs start an along-racial-lines shooting fight in a crowded nightclub, some guy running an illegal weapons modification ring out of his apartment over a chinese restaraunt, thieves storm a diamond wholesalers and are attempting to steal the diamonds, every level feels like it could be a real thing. Now yes, the serial killer level is kind of silly (the guy built a bleeding dungeon under his house that would make the guy from Se7en say to him, "dude, you're freaking nuts") and the Children of Tarrone cultists from level 8 are straight out of kooksville, but then you've got missions like the A-Bomb Night Club, DuPlessis Diamond Wholesalers, Red Library, Food Wall Restaraunt and St. Michaels Medical Centre levels which could take place in the real world.

I'd like to see the Ultimate Pokemon Game. As in, the one where you get to play through all the regions nonstop, and where it actually tries to have a real plot, kind of like how Black and White did. Also, Pokemon with *good graphics.* But that's because I just want to see how they'd look in realistic style...

I'd like to see Final Fantasy have some kind of continuity. Right now, it's got this weird hybrid of "well, they all have the same title, so I keep wanting to see some sort of huge epic continuity," but then they're just random games. Wtf. If you're going to spend all your time on a series I don't care about, Squeenix, at least make it monumentally epic as a structure :p

I'd like to see Bioshock go less steampunk/Victorian/whatever and go back toward its cyberpunk spiritual origins. ...This is really just me saying that I don't like steampunk and I want System Shock back, dammit, but I know that can't happen. ><

OT: Does Resident Evil count? The only change I'd like is for it to be survival horror again. I don't care whether they make it more like the originals, like Resi 4, or do a whole new thing altogether. All I care about is bringing back the survival horror. Or at least removing the focus on co-op.
Oh, and a Resident Evil 2 remake akin to the first. But that's less a change in the franchise than a request for a specific game.

THISTHISTHISTHISTHISTHISTHIS.

Oh, and resident evil outbreak ported to the PC, for the love of god.

Yeah, i like it when good game developers actually continue making good games.

Oh, and i'd kind of liked to have seen the new elder scrolls game have a co-op option for 2 players. I'm not too interested in the series anyway, however.

I'd also like to see runescape not have been screwed up by jagex.

Mount and blade: Warband, multiplayer campaign.

like seriously, have it be LAN connected or something, messing up the place with a combined force or try to backstab your friends sounds like a barrel of fun.
Search Mount and Blade battle time and you can get that.
naw, I mean running around on the same map individually, each raising your own band of soldiers, going after your own quests.

imagine the singleplayer game, only with some of the lords replaced by people.

Because MONEYMONEYMONEY.

Although, I guess it could be because of something like the AI being worked on between annual releases.
Yeah, I was just thinking of an account based bonus, like "Snowblind also owns the original game, he can have these decks unlocked for the 2012 edition."

It's just the CCG business model transferred straight to videogames. Every edition, you have to shell out enough cash to build a decent deck. If decks carried over, you wouldn't need to spend as much.

And changes I'd like to see? I'd like franchises which started with a morally ambiguous conflict to go back to that, instead of going more and more black&white with each installment. You know how for example in Assassin's Creed the Templars had rational arguments for what they were doing and often believed that they are doing good? Well, now (not speaking of AC3, haven't played it) they are just Saturday morning cartoon villains.

In fact, flanderization. That's the trend which applies to pretty much any franchise and it bothers me. How everything in the game universe has to be turned up to 11 for the sequel, and then turned up even more. I'd like it to stop.
Well, core cards do carry over, like, Counterspell/Shock etc. Not always, but there are some that carry over. I guess I'm just tired of this gaming trend to push forward and bury the past. You can't even buy the extra deck packs and expansion for Duels 2012 on PSN (cept for deck pack 3) separate. It's infuriating. Especially since Archenemy is a lot of fun as a family activity.

Co-op in Elder Scrolls also sounds like a blast. As a married man, more game options for the wifey and I are always nice.

Video games simply have direct consequences for decisions instead of a morality meeter.
Agreed, I tried replaying KOTOR, and got frustrated with the occasionally "dark" side options.

Plus, bioware had that old school habit of choices like
"Kick Grandma in the face"
"Help her cross the street"
"MURDER HER"

Check out the Persistent World mod. Not exactly what you're thinking about, but tons of fun!

Crowd Stealth is still Stealth.
And they should have left it in game. That was the best part of the first game, yet, they never really embraced it in the later installments.

A new Knights of the Old Republic RPG style game (I don't care if it's old republic, the empire, just SW universe) where you control your character like Force Unleashed.

Alternately a really, really good Star Trek RPG with space battle, universe exploration, 3PS, and a good story. Basically take all the best ideas from Star Trek and put them in the same game while excluding all the garbage.

I would like to see all the franchises burn to the ground while I play the violin and laugh. Since that's not likely, I wish they would become turn based strategy games. All of them.

But seriously, the burning and fiddling would be better. By the time it's no longer a game but a franchise it's irrevocably lost and must be cleansed with fire.
