In before some jerks come in and say things like "remove all the ninja/samurai crap references from it!" or "remove all the stupid androgyny and femininity in it! Make it manly!" or "remove all the stupid inferior anime and Japanese designs from it" or "remote everything remotely Japanese or Asian from it!".

Remove the J. Seriously, cut out everything that makes them remotely Japanese. I can just imagine if Golden Sun wasn't a JRPG with stupid looking characters, it would have been amazing.
Crud, I was too late. I hate this planet.

Pssh, obviously the problem here is you. If you weren't some warped sicko that enjoyed depraved things such as turn-based battles and anime-style characters, than you'd have a greater appreciation of the WRPG. The one, true bastion of great game design.
I really wish this wasn't the perfect parody of the gaming community today. I really wish it wasn't.

What was that sound? Oh, it was just the sound of everything I love about video games dying a little more with each day... *sniff*

Have male characters who act like MEN.
Oh God... I just.. I didn't even read this post before I made my joke interpretation of everything wrong with everyone's criticisms of jRPGs. And it's already in the thread anyway just like expected.

I just... please, aliens, if you're out there in the universe, Giygas, someone, blow up planet Earth. We don't deserve to exist anymore. Just... put us humans out of our misery, please. Just... read this and realize that we must all die.

What's wrong with random encounters and ATB? I love ATB. And I don't mind random encounters at all.
It all comes down to personal tastes, I'm sure there's a modern JRPG out there somewhere you'd like.

Do away with Turn Based and Active Time Battle Systems.
But those are FANTASTIC for strategy.

If jRPGs that fuse the traditional jRPG and "Action" combat and gameplay are "Action-RPGs", then ones with turn based combat are like a fusion of the RPG and the strategy RPG. And Strategy RPGs are a great tradition of gameplay. Like a much more fascinating chess game. Perhaps my most played and most enjoyed RPG genre in modern time. I love being able to sit back and think closely about my combat choices. And strategy games that aren't explicitly RTS are severely lacking in modern times.
