First and only choice:
3, Siefer Almasy

I think this name is the most normal of your choices. 1 and 2 are just terrible, sorry to say so. 5 sounds a bit megalomaniac. 4 is from Yu-Gi-Oh, so not that one either (ever). It is the kind of fantasy names 10-year olds use after watching the cartoons.
But I'd suggest you think about possible names some more.

Please go with Vegeta, and kindly wait for the "What does the scouter say about his powerlevel?" puns to come rolling your way ;).

I didn't choose the first name prince because I like the name prince, I think it's stupid, I chose the name Vegeta but needed a full name, for which Vegeta has none, he only has a title which is Prince - So Prince Vegeta is the name choice, not prince and as explained earlier, I would introduce myself as Vegeta or Prince Vegeta but not prince by itself;
Vegeta's last name is "Breigh", as revealed in "The History Of Trunks"; an extra episode that took place in between 175 and 176.
I know of the heavily debated Breigh situation.

It is actually a bad translation from Japanese to English - They were talking about his kingdom on Planet Vegeta which has a word in Japanese and not english.

Officially Vegeta's proper name is Prince Vegeta, hence him never taking up the title of "King" after his father, King Vegeta, died.

What's the worse that can happen? Well apart from my first post, how about impairing your credit record or ending any chance of working in job that has any kind of background check. How many banks do you think will employ you if it turns out that you changed your name to Darth Cruxis? Changing your name leaves a permanent mark in the records that will follow you for the rest of your life.
Impairing my credit record? I don't know what kind of non-connected country you live in but once a change of name is approved and completed the register of births, marriages and deaths informs VEDA of the change so your current credit file is transferred to the new name. (In Australia at least)

Also, any job that required me to take a background check would require me to answer the very common question "Have you ever been known by any other name?".. and then the background check would include any records that related to both my new and old name.. and both would turn up nothing.
Small, but rather important point, fact is that if you have changed your name reduces your credit score. The fact you have changed your name to something silly will also show on any background check for the rest of your life. Employers, given a choice, will pick the person that hasn't changed their name to something flakey. So even if change again to something more normal, it will show up for the rest of your life, thanks to those connected always on databases that you are so keen on.

The love life thing is mildly comical to me because I think any girl that I get close enough to would have already had to overcome all the Video games, Anime and pop culture tattoos which are in very visible areas and I doubt also having a video game or anime name would be the deal breaker.

Not to mention I could still just use my old name in those situations IF it really came down to it.
I'm sorry, but I'll put it this way:
If I saw a chick marked up with a bunch of video game related tattoos, I'd probably be interested in talking to her and finding out more because hey, she's (hopefully) interested in the same type of things I am. If I then found out she had gotten her name legally changed to Tali'Zorah nar Rayya, I'd probably think she's cuckoo and distance myself as far as I can, as quickly as I could.

Why not just keep your legal name (or change it to something less weird if you really dislike it so much) and then just use one of those names for non-legal matters, if it'd be so easy to use your old name in such situations anyway?

Anyway, my choice would either be Siefer (so long as it's pronounced "Sy-pher" and not "See-fur") or Legato. Those are the only ones I'd be able to keep a straight face hearing, and even then I still know what they're referencing so I'd probably have to hold back a little.

Right...

since you're set on changing your name no matter what, I suggest something that sounds remotely normal:

1)Siefer Almasy
2)Prince Vegeta

If you're going for this I'd go for Darth, because it seems you want people to recognise the fact that these are named after characters etc. so you might as well for one that people recognise.

If I were to change my name, it would be something less fandom-y but still cool. Like (Lord) Argyle Spencer to name one persona that I use for fun on XBL.

I must say, most of those names are...Well, a bit comical. However, I won't be one to pass up the opportunity to possibly influence someone's name!

First Choice: Siefer Almasy

Second Choice: Legato Kaiba

Those sound a lot better than Darth or Prince as a first name...I wouldn't be able to stand people calling me either.

First fact is highly debatable and actually rather unknown unless you work for the specific credit reporting agency that the person is listed in - Most credit agencies will not reduce your credit rating unless there are credit applications with alternate names more often than once every 30 days.

Also, Technically I am an employer, I read resumes and conduct interviews on all the telco hiring in my region, I don't perform the background checks and once the background check is performed I have already completed the interview and decided on the employee so unless a horrible criminal charge turned up it would not change my mind.

This is generally the process in Australia and it has been for all my previous jobs as well, when applying for telstra I submitted my applications -> Phone interview -> Face-to-face interview -> Hired pending background check

If an employer has decided you are the best candidate, a background check that shows up you changed your name to Darth Cruxis is unlikely to have them terminate your pending hiring.

At the end of the day none of us can really think for other people, speaking from my personal experience, unless a background check showed a serious criminal charge that was undisclosed would be the only thing stopping me from hiring the best candidate.

Honestly dude, if it makes you happy, go for it. Reading this thread, you've obviously thought this through. I changed my name - to something much more subtle, mind - when I was eighteen. No regrets.

So my vote is for Siefer Almasy.

Protip: the reason I changed my name is my old one was a ***** for other people to spell, resulting in much confusion and irritation. So I'd very seriously recommend against Yggdrasil.

It sounds as though you believe you have fully thought this through. that said, please don't do this. whether you think it will or not, this WILL have negative effects on you and the argument I can just change it back is not good. Someone seeing you have changed your name twice will not think of that as a positive thing.

You sound pretty sure of yourself. I doubt this will change your mind. I hope you really have thought this through.

I vote for Siefer Almasy with Legato Kaiba as second. Though since you are willing to mix and match names from different series, why not pick something other than Prince to go with Vegeta since you don't even like the name Prince to begin with? Personally I always think it is stupid when people have names that are titles. Also even if the name Yggdrasil is in the game Tales of Symphonia, very few will associate it with that even if they have played the game due to its far wider renown as the name of the world in Norse paganism.

You want to change your name to an already existing characters name? I bet you think you are being yourself by doing this but you're not, you are just being unoriginal and taking other peoples ideas. If you need a crazy name come up with your own. You don't need to do this to yourself just be your own character/person, not something you will be laughed at for.

You will be persecuted like hell if you pick any of these. So go ahead mate name yourself after a Star Wars fan fic character. In all seriousness I really hope you reconsider, seriously this will not do you any favours. If you must then change your name, then do it to something that wont get you bullied.

As a FF8 fan, I'd go for Siefer Almasy although I'd take the German Version of his name (yeah, for some reason they changed the spelling): Cifer Almasy

To each their own :)

Personally, I was in a relationship with a girl that really wanted to change her name to Garnet til Alexandros, I thought it was amazing.

Actually, it was kind of disappointing when she didn't go through with it (but that was mainly for monetary reasons)

Siefer Almasy sounds like the least ridiculous name from that list, in my opinion. So, yeah, go with that.

Always wondered, if you change your name to something utterly ridiculous because you were young and foolish and then regretted it later in life, are there procedures you can take to reverse the name change later? Are there limits on the amount of times you can change your name? Like a cool-down period or something?

Google searching 'Darth Cruxis' brings up this thread as the most relevant reference to the search criteria lol

Darth Cruxis is NOT an existing character from anything.

It is a title from stars was combined with the name of a faction/race from tales of symphonia.

You're still young, high on testosterone, fantasy worlds and life itself. I strongly advise against messing up your life like that if you're not absolutely in for a billionaire heritage of sorts.

Yes, I do enjoy feeding pig to Muslims and Jews, but I don't sneak alcohol into the recovering alcoholics OJ and I don't give weed to the schizo. There are boundaries that should not be crossed, so I really want to express my not being too happy with your plans. Getting rid of the name your parents gave you means disrespecting them, and if that's all there is to it at the core of this stunt, there are other ways that don't mark you as an idiot and the odd-one out.

If all else fails, Siefer Almasy is best. Anyone who doesn't know where it comes from will just assume you're just an immigrant from Eastern Europe with German and Jewish heritage. Even a moderately literate Arab would understand 'Almasy' as hailing back to Germany. Siefer should be fine for any complexion you're featuring, even though a lot of people will assume your parents made a spelling mistake of sorts - any negative connotations of that line of thought would be, of course, countered by your surname of choice.

In Swahili, Almasi means 'diamond', and if fancy and rare are your thing beyond collectible cards, I think 'diamond' should suit you well and allow you to wear it with pride. Since 'Al' is also a proper Arab (definitive) article, your last name could also be perceived as being Al-Masy, meaning The Masy, whatever a 'masy' is or could be.

Calling yourself 'Darth' is stupid, as the Dark Side is not to be messed with, and if you do, you do it in darkness, silence and hiding. 'Prince' and 'Vegeta' are both exceedingly stupid. Come on, Michael Jackson's dead, and he made a very sad and sorry corpse. Not even touching 'Legato' and 'Yggdrasil'. They all make you sound like a toon, but 'ave eet ur wei!

Whatislove : My vote is for #2 because in my opinion, it's the one that the biggest amount of people know about. I could be wrong about this however and if so, then my vote will be on the one that is one that is the biggest amount of people know about.
