Not long enough, that's for sure. Could you introduce yourself as Darth or Prince with a straight face, or without inspiring ridicule from everybody? I mean, apparently you can't even get away with it in The Escapist, let alone in real life.

I just had to say two things, 1) is you crazeh? 2) Thank you for doing this to yourself and not to any child you might have. I've always been an advocate of "if you like the name, then you have it".

On topic. I'd go with 4 then 3.

They both kind of sound like names and if questioned on them you could always just pull the "my parents are dyslexic/some crazy language ... like Yiddish" card.

Also might want to consider the implications of a name such as those, "I now pronounce you Mr and Miss's Vegeta" and nobody will be able to pronounce "yggdrasill". Doing it for teh lolz or YOLO could make things a ***** for a couple of months.

You should go with Prince Vegeta, then in a few years time if you get fed up with it being named after a cartoon character, you can change your name to a random symbol and be known as The Regional Manager Formerly Known As Prince Vegeta.
Hahahaha, that gave me a great laugh

Ummmm . . .can we get an idea of the tattoos you will have? I mean, is there a theme?

Mix and match though, in my opinion. Darth Vegeta would be pretty sick. I bet there is already fanart somewhere of that.
Ok where to start:
I won't list specific locations, I will just give you an idea of what I have
Majin Super Vegeta
Saiyan royal crests
Old republic sith empire symbol
Cruxis crystal
Cruxis Crest
General Beatrix from ff9
The rain card from cardcaptor sakura
The power card from cardcaptor sakura
The elyos symbol from Aion
The forsaken crest from WoW
Sailor mercury
Starmie
Butterfree
Mewtwo
Gengar
Gladiator crest from aion
rogue crest from wow
an evil ganondorf triforce
the pokemon psychic symbol
Green ranger power coin and dragonzord
A few word in yevon script (ff10) and lots of other text/quotes
There are more but I'll leave it there.

Related question, how do you pronounce Yggdrasil? I'd say go with number 5, unless you can't pronounce it.
From Tales of Symphonia it is pronounced ~Mee-thohss yig~drah~sill~

I think you're crazy OP. But in terms of crazy things one can do in life, at least this doesn't involve farm animals or long, expensive prosecutions.

So!

I would stay away from the first two if I were you. Having a title as your first name would strike me as odd. But whatever floats your boat. The last three seem reasonably cool. They don't mean anything to me whatsoever, but the third and fourth ones seem pretty cool. No clue how to pronounce the fifth one (even after your post right above this one).
So go for it, like you said, you can change it back if it doesn't work out.

I have the symbol of the Illidari - the green symbol you see on the flags at the Black Temple - on my right bicep, and the Thieves Guild diamond symbol on my spine, between my shoulderblades. I must say I'm impressed by your Forsaken crest; I'd love to see it.
I like my tattoos more subtle, so I'd not get such an elaborate design done. Maybe a tattered Lordaeron crest.

I am deeply saddened by the fact your username is whatislove and Haddaway is not on that list

Nevertheless, 4 would be my first choice.

Long story short, I hate my name and I?m super nerdy, so as well as covering myself in nerd tattoos I am going to legally change my name to one of the names pictured.

I have narrowed it down to these 5 (I have been thinking about it for a looooong time), They all mean something to me and I just can?t make a final decision - That?s where you come in.

Reply to this post with your pick, you are allowed to have a first and second choice.

On May 31st I will tally all the votes, with first choices being worth 3 points and second choice being worth 1 point.

I will make my final decision based on your votes!

The names are in no particular order of preference for me;
I like Darth Cruxis because it mashes up my favourite game of all time with the sith, I had roughly 20 different darth names on earlier, less refined lists and this is the one that stuck;

I like Prince Vegeta because Vegeta is by far my most favourite character full stop, I already have several Vegeta tattoos with plans for more as well as a huge Vegeta collection, when I first pondered name changes I was set on this until I found other names I also wanted to have;

Even though I hated FF8, I liked Seifer Almasy and out of all the names it is the most practical as far as naming convention is concerned (I would choose the spelling Siefer as shown in the picture over Seifer simply because It is closer to how I pronounce it);

Legato Kaiba fuses Trigun and Yugioh, Kaiba being my close second favourite anti-hero behind Vegeta and Legato was an amazing character with an amazing name, I would have even considered his full name, Legato Bluesummers;

Mithos Yggdrasill is such a badass name, it is another one from Tales of Symphonia, although he wasn?t my favourite character from the game (Kratos Aurion was), he is certainly in the top 5 and I just love the name;

In fact, I love all the names and that?s why I?m doing this.

I will shamelessly say this post is also running on my tumblr, so votes will be combined.

The change of name process takes 4-6 weeks after paperwork has been lodged, I will be posting my new birth certificate as soon as I get it.

Edit: For those that don't know/have never seen Dragonball Z before, The name Prince Vegeta isn't some random pairing of Prince and Vegeta, I don't like the first name Prince but Vegeta is the saiyan prince, he is the prince of all saiyans, he refers to himself as Prince Vegeta and since he does not have a real full name, 'Prince Vegeta' is the closest you can get to a full name.
Look, dude. You're going to regret this and have to pay to change it back once you have to start a career/family.

Just don't waste the fucking time.

I'm pretty sure this is a poorly executed joke, no one over the age of twelve could possibly think this is a good idea.

We've already gone over employment, I'm 23 this year and currently earn 91k a year + bonuses in a regional manager position so let's just let it go.
So you are 100% certain that you will want to work in this same position for the rest of your working life, and that you will be able to keep that position despite the countless possible factors which may terminate you from this position? Sorry, but if you are 100% certain of both these things then you are wrong.

Even if you do change your name back later on, if a potential employer does a background check on you and sees that you have changed your name twice, that is not going to be interpreted as a positive thing in any way.

The others are pretty damn awkward enough but if you decide to name yourself Prince Vegeta then I hope you don't like the company of other living human beings because that is social suicide.

How about Dave? Or go crazy and change it to Bob. But if I had to choose the least awkward from your list, I'd go with Siefer Almasy. But seriously: Be brave, go Dave!

I wouldn't recommend any of those.

Not because of some "it will ruin your life" crap but because they're lame.

I mean Prince Vegeta? That's just horrible.

If you absolutely have some sort of obsession that will force you to get one then I'd pick Siefer Almasy, not because it's "normal" but because it sounds the coolest.

I'd still recommend you pick something else though.

I hope you get the spelling right when you apply for this name change. Just... The pic says Siefer, is all.

Anyways, even though I don't exactly agree with your idea for a name change, I'm still gonna vote for Seifer. It's the most normal name out of them all. Don't go with Darth anything, please. It will probably make you a laughing stock.

I only read the first 2 pages of this thread, but I still see some pretty stupid people posting on the seventh page.

He has considered all the consequences you're mentioning and either you're wrong about it affecting him, like the job and credit checks or whatever else, or he doesn't care. He's tattooed Vegeta onto his forearm already, I'm pretty sure he's not worried by whatever social impact a strange name might have. I'm not sure what kind of world you guys are living in where adults bully each other over their names, but most people who are worth knowing would just give friendly teasing in fun at the most. Since you're worried about people being teased though, go down to your nearest school and warn all the kids about being different or individuals, in case they get teased for that too.

As for the "horrible long time life ruining consequences", a) he's got a steady job, b) it's less permanent than the visible tattoos he's already covered in, and they obviously haven't impacted his career, and c) I know lots of people with strange names who haven't had trouble getting a job. Birdie, Calamity Jane, Pretty, Chocolate and Superman are the strangest real people I know.

He was asking for votes on which name, not if he should or not. Good on him for doing what he wants without worrying about what others think.

As for answering his question, I'm going to go for a split. Darth or Legato; Darth because I'd love to see that being used on official forms, and Legato because that's the one I'd personally be happiest using.

So what you're saying is... he's already got the shitty tattoos, why not go for the lame name as well!

My friends husband is in his mid forties and his name is Atom.
He legally changed it to Atom using quite unique kanji characters.
I am not sure what to make of it though...

I personally have a unique name, and my friend also has a really unique but not too radical name, and we both use unconventional kanji characters.
I think our names make more of a statement than Atom...

Heh, I don't think you should change your name to one of those. No, not because it's irresponsible or whatever crap people are throwing at you but because they suck.

Seriously.

None of those names are any good.

I would advise against changing your name to something from that list. There is a very real risk of making yourself unemployable, any job application with those names on it will look like a joke and be filed in the bin. Also any hope of finding members of whatever you sex you are attracted to with name is somewhere around zero with those names.
Yeah, I'm gonna agree with this guy. There have to be more acceptable names that have significance to you, not all fictional characters have crazy names.
