Changing My Name

I've been thinking a lot about this for a long time, as my last name has some terrible history behind it. Apparently, I come from at least two generations of pedophiles. My father is actually known by name at the local FBI department for some of his sexual and narcotic offenses. The fact that just going by my last name can lead a federal agency to relate me to a known monster creeps me right the hell out. Because of this, I've been wanting to change my name.

Now, my grandfather on my mother's side was actually my mother's stepfather. His only son can't have children, so there's no one to carry on the "legacy." I am strongly considering changing my last name to his. My only conflicting thoughts are the way the name will sound when paired with my first and middle.

My name right now is Tyler Aaron Standifird.

If I were to change it, it'd be Tyler Aaron Leonard.

What do you think?

[small]inb4 "was you raped?" No, I luckily wasn't.[/small]

Edit: Oh, and to promote discussion value, what do you think of name-changing and do you know of any really good or really bad ones? A friend of mine legally changed his name to Jack Havoc. Ridiculous.

I think it sounds just fine. If you want to change it, go ahead!

No.

Change your last name to "Durden".
Thank you for that.

OT: I guess if you really want to, although it might be a bit difficult on meeting up with old friends and stuff like that.

Tyler Aaron Leonard sounds like a perfectly fine name. Sounds quite plain and normal, it doesn't sound wrong or come off odd.

I want a middle name, I don't have one.

What could go with Samuel Broderick

Samuel Doctor Broderick?
Samuel Davros Broderick?
Samuel Omega Broderick?
Samuel (insert name related to Doctor Who here) Broderick?

Or Samuel Joseph Broderick, that'd work too.

OT: Sure, coming from the background you say you come from I would most certainly change it if I had the chance.

Is that "Tyler-Aaron Leonard" or "Tyler Leonard?" Either sounds fine, just curious.
Tyler Leonard. Aaron is my middle name.

I thought about that too, but I'm only a year out of high school and thanks to Facebook I'm still in touch with everyone that I'd ever want to get back in touch with. One status update and I can tell everyone that I plan to make the change and then change it on there before I ever actually get it done in real life. People would probably get used to it before long.

Do whatever you want.

I was going to end up with my last name changed to Saunders once, for reasons I won't bother going into detail about, but that seems to have been forgotten.

I think it's pointless unless you have a valid reason, and I haven't heard of any interesting ones.

I'd do it. I wouldn't want to be associated with pedophiles. I mean I'm already associated with an Insane Women. Sigh.

If you really want to change it then do it. I legally changed my name (not because I hated it but because of religious reasons) from Natalie to Naila. I've never regretted changing my name.

I'd do it, Tyler Leonard sounds fine. Even if it didn't I would still change it, I would hate to be affiliated with a pedophile. The only thing my name is linked to is male patern baldness and Yorkshire. *sigh*

I hate my name.

It's one of the most boring, generic and commonly used names in the English speaking world. I so wish I could change it.

Anyway, your suggestion sounds fine. Go for it.
