Command and Conquer generals was an excellent game in my opinions....but then they went this whole massive cult/alien resources route and I was just staring at my screen thinking why did they take out the Chinese and G.L.A.? They were my two favorites, I couldn't stand being the Americans, not now...NOT EVER!

Ultima 9

It's not a bad game by any stretch, it's just "WTF am I playing, and why is it called Ultima?"
Glad someone else felt this. It was a good game but felt almost like someone had taken the world and decide to slap a different game over the top. The whole experience just wasn't as tight and compelling as the earlier games.

Resistance 2. I really liked the first one, even though it felt a little rushed in parts and had some muddy graphical touches (although this was probably due to the fact it was always made as a launch title for the PS3 and therefore had a strict release date, with little time able to be spent examining the power of the PS3 and trying to get more out of it).

However, the sequel just tried to cram too much in and lost the focussed feel of the first game. I didn't dislike it, but it was disappointing, and as such it lessened the admiration and fondness I had for the first game.

Also... that ending? Wow, Resistance 3 better be amazing to make up for that.

Black Ops, it was quite fun the first time I played it. But COD 4 and MW2 were fucking epic.
AC: Brotherhood. Compared to AC2:
*The story is not interesting.
*I have to do boring collect quests to buy new gear.
*The buildings are dull as fuck.
*The combat is only slightly improved.
*They wasted time on shitty multiplayer that in the end, has very little stealth involved.
*Some missions are just not fun(Carrying that ***** around and chasing her to pick her up every time the guards show up).
*Lack of DaVincis gadgets.

Final Fantasy now. The changing leveling mechanics used to be a strength of the series, in my opinion, since it stopped things from getting boring, but the systems have gotten increasingly absurd and metaphysical. Not to mention the increasing linearity and over reliance on cutscenes. I know they're not technically sequels but...X-2 though!

Personally, I found Gears 2 to be worse than Gears 1... Which is weird because I love the new weapons and enemies (The Locust Queen especially, *Meow*).

The only thing I didn't like about GoW2 was the campaign... There were just a couple of levels that I found, frankly, stupid...

Please don't hate... I'm entitled to my opinion...
Oh my god, this. The only thing that improved were the graphics. The new weapons are okay, but they don't add anything to the game. The campaign was pretty "meh", and until recently, the multi-player was just flat-out unplayable. Thankfully, things look better for Gears of War 3 (DEDICATED SERVERS! WOO!). :D

I gotta ask, though. Which levels in particular didn't you like? We might have some common opinions here.
Well, mostly the levels that take part on the Reaver and Brumak... and the level that randomly trails into the abandoned labratory... and that part with the crane was just so damned glitchy...

But I loved the Worm!

Lemme guess, the tank, the sea monster and the Reaver section? Because if so I completely agree. Other than that it was much more fun... Except for that terrifying glitch in Horde where the Wretches had shotguns...

Surprisingly few mentions of Final Fantasy.

I don't mind them fiddling and tinkering with gameplay and the like, after all that's progress. However, it seems that they've also sacrificed story alongside it, which is key for RPGs in my opinion.

*braces for impact*

Metroid Prime.

Yeah, you heard me. The first one was innovative, creative, fresh and new. They really had a lot of new ground to cover, and they did it with style and panache that really made the game an immersive experience.

And then Metroid Prime 2 came out. It was...less innovative (obviously, not the start of a new series), a little less fun, a little gimmicky. Not bad, but not great.

And then Metroid Prime 3 came out. And I played it. For, like, an hour. Then traded it in for something else. Yawn.

I've never really understood the equipment criticisms of ME2s lack of equipment. There are more variations of weaponry. In ME1, all the different variations of weapon types were essentially the same, just different damage and accuracy counters.
Are you forgetting the weapon attachments and bullet modification for each gun and your armor?

Poison bullets, ftw! Or whatever that word I can't spell is. Polonium or something...Give me a pistol, and one activation on Marksman. My pistol is now a machine gun for the next few moments. With poison bullets and a heat sink to keep it from overheating during machine gun mode.
