Characters everyone seems to hate

Have you ever played a game and thought that a character was great but no one else saw them the same way?
I was a big fan of Shadow Man on N64 and i loved Jaunty. he was hilarious and I'd speak to him regularly to hear some of his legendary lines. all my friends who had played the game found him really annoying and wanted to shut him up permanently.

I find both Brucie from GTA4 and Jaunty from Shadowman very amusing.

The Gungans in Star Wars: Battlefront get my vote.

I'll be first to agree with you. I don't hate his character, I hate the attention whore of a girlfriend he has. really, without her I think a lot of ppl would hate the game less.

although i still think they'd hate a bunch of the the cutscenes being turned into 'lets go talk on codec even though we're standing right in front of each other.

I loved Brucie, hands down the funniest character in GTA4.

I also liked almost every NPC in Shivering Isles, while everyone else was annoyed by them. They fixed a big problem with Oblivion: boring characters. From Fimmion to Big Head to the main man Sheogorath, they were, in their own weird way, fucking hilarious.

Little Jacob from GTA4, I loved his character. Most people I know hated him because they couldn't understand what he was talking about. I had to translate for some of them when they played XD. I couldn't believe they got actual Jamaicans actors to do the voice overs. Most games/movies use American/Canadian actors who try to to the accent and fail miserably. Annoying myself and all other Jamaican gamers.

Also, Jansen from Lost Odyssey. I thought he was hilarious, a lot of people found him annoying though.

Lots of people hate the Master Chief. I don't know why. Well, I do, but I think it's a stupid reason. "Not enough character" or "Steryotypical super-soldier". Well, I like being a steryotypical super soldier, and will continue to play the Halo series.

Oh, and I know it sounds like a stupid and nerdy argument, but if you read the Halo novels, you'll discover that the Chief is actually quite interesting. Just so you know...

Oh, and I liked Brucie. In my opinion, everybody needs at least one frat boy friend.

I kinda liked Issun in Okami, but I've never heard anything positive about him from anyone else.
And I LOVE Jan Jansen from BGII - best comic relief character ever. If you take Forgotten Realms seriously and want only gloom and doom and drama in your game session, here's a tip:
You. Don't. Have. To. Bring. Him. Along. Now stop picking on the poor wee gnome already.
(Although to be fair, I HATED Grobnar in NWN2. He is neither funny, interesting or useful - all of which could be applied to Jan. People debate "useful", but pick the trait "use any item" and watch him swing that +5 two-hander reserved for Paladins only

Many people find 343 Guilty Spark to be annoying, but I think he is one of the best characters ever.

I completely agree. The people who actually bothered to play the game, as opposed to simply looking at a picture of a bishonen in a weird bodysuit and scream "Lol, fag!" will know that
