I think he's a pretty good character, I think if people just looked beyond the hair, and accepted that he's not Snake then we would be problem free.


On a further note about FF protagonists, I don't understand what's with the whole "they're all emo" thing. I can't really think of any of them as being whiny or anything.
If you look at Cloud (the main offender), he's actually a super soldier gone wrong who's trying to deal with that without really knowing what's happening to him, as well as dealing with a load of terrible events in his past. If anyone has a right to whine it's him, and he doesn't.
Then the next in line, Tidus. He is the most whiny of the lot but again he's got some good reasons. His mother died when he was young, he was neglected by his father, he's trapped 1000 years into the future, everyone seems to think he's either crazy or a heretic, or both. And then he discovers soom pretty shocking revelations later. Despite all the this he hardly ever gets upset about his whole situation, quite rarely whines and is actually pretty happy most of the time.
Finally the new target of hate, Vaan. This one I really don't understand. He's poor, as far as I can tell homeless, living in an oppressed country and gets caught up in a political situation which he doesn't understand at all. And yet he's the most upbeat protagonist in a FF game?!?!

So I fail to see how you can call them emo?

Oh my goodness, someone who actually has some sense of judgment and understanding. I never understood the hate to any of em either. At least you properly justify why those characters are the way they are. Most people pretty much overlook everything that has happened to them and just go off the way they act. I will never get why people hate those guys.

A lot of people complained about Midna from Twilight Princess but I liked her. Once you got far enough into the game and found out more about her and what was going on, she grew on me. At first she reminded me of Navi and annoyed the hell out of me but that changed.

Also commenting on Issun, at times he was annoying but he also was there as comical relief and at least he was actually useful once you obtained his attack. I'd still choose Amaratsu of Issun any day but he really wasn't that bad. (The character that did annoy the hell out of me was Waka, he was just a pain in the ass)

Well not really hate because he does have tons of fans but anytime you mention Sephiroth you are sure to get at least a half dozen morons coming in and shouting "KAFKA" -.-;;;

I personally hate Waluigi.

Also, Jansen from Lost Odyssey. I thought he was hilarious, a lot of people found him annoying though.

Jansen was awesome, I don't see how anyone could hate him.

Jansen was full of awesome. I had him equipped with specs for most of the game simply for the looks and I found it actually added to his character and made him better.

Amy Rose sucks. Sakura's average, better from what I saw of Shippuden. Gaara's not cute, he's meant to be badass. The whole "bishie" thing is bullshit, he'd crush you without a moments thought for such a thing.

I really hated Wakka from FFX. Tidus annoyed me on occasion (The peak of Gagazet mountain scene annoyed me particularly) but Wakka was far far worse in my eyes. I deliberately didn't use him unless forced to, simply because he was so bloody annoying to me.

Sakura only really comes to life at the very end of the Forest of Death, her fight with Ino remains one of my favourite episodes. The only decent scene she had before she cut her hair was when she beat up Naruto and Konohamaru, which was a 2 minute sequence.
Fangirls will like anything if they want to. They don't have to be a good character or even an attractive one, just a male one. I know someone who likes Rock Lee for example.

Anyway, video games. I think I hated everyone from FFX except Rikku. Wakka is a total prick as well as racist for some reason, Auron is generic, Kimahri has no character, Tidus is pathetic and arrogant and melodramatic, Lulu is just nothing and Yuna is OK, but she made me want to yell "shut up and fucking kill him already" on more than one occaision, including every fight with Seymour.
