I'm going to be different and say Professor Layton. I could explain my reasoning, but it would kind of spoil the ending of the second game.

The comic relief character from Blue Dragon (can't remember his name for the life of me), I hated him so bad I'd pay to see his little face smashed in. Wait... that probably counts for most of the protagonists in that game, especially the main protagonist.

"Won't give up, eh?"
"why don't you repeat that to me with my fist in your face?"

I figured when Soul Calibur came out for the Xbox that they would add Halo's Arbiter as a special character for the MS version of the game. It seems like a logical choice to me. Moreso than Yoda anyway.

He's a franchise character, his main weapon is the energy sword, and he's portrayed as a true warrior in the game's mythos. So why not, eh?
I guess one Halo cameo in a fighting game was enough. Dead or Alive 4 has a female Spartan named Nicole.
I really wish I'd had the werewithall to unlock that character. But the boss fight in that game was so random and difficult with many of the characters that I eventually gave up long before I'd gotten the required prerequisites. Shame really. I'd have liked to seen her first hand, but oh well.

She was easier to play as than the others. Also warthogs would drive in that Vegas strip level when using her. But DOA4 was a complete waste of a game anyways.
