After playing Mass Effect 3 Demo, I can't put my finger on it but Vega looks like a stretch arm strong doll even compared to ME1 characters. Have you ever seen a HD character that just didn't look right in a game?

Uh... basically every character with a realistic human face in every game ever.

Honestly, It would be easier for me to list the ones that didn't look uncanny valley-ish.

Although I have been getting more used to it over time.

Pretty much this. Though nowadays I feel like it's mostly the eyes and the animations that are holding them back. ME2 and ME3 are a good example of this. In ME2 the mouth movements and blinking were distractingly awkward, and there were so many clipping issues all the time I was never sure if it was just like that or if my game was glitching out.

In the ME3 demo, their mouth movements have improved somewhat, but the eyes are still not quite right. As for other examples, I haven't really played enough recent games to make any more nominations.

Honestly, i think Final Fantasy has done it best up to this point. Close to realistic, but just stylized enough to stay out of the valley.

Well, I just bought a 360 a couple of months ago before that I had a Wii so I can't tell just yet...but Miranda looks Uncanny compared to the other characters in ME2 too.

A thousand times THIS.

The only game I can name that has escaped the uncanny valley is Metal Gear Solid 4:Guns Of The Patriots.
Everyone is that game actually looks and moves like a real person, texture resolution aside.

Next closest I can think of would be Uncharted 2 (haven't played Uncharted 3 yet).

The uncanny valley problem, specifically the animations and eyes are my hugest most monumental gripe regarding Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3, and Fallout New Vegas.
I can just barely ignore it in Fallout 3, and I haven't played New Vegas yet. I can't stand looking at Morrowind or Oblivion.
Thankfully, Skyrim is MUCH better than the other Elder Scrolls games when it comes to this, and even a little better than Fallout 3/NV, so it's the least aggrivating of the Bethesda games for me to play.

I was praying that Bethesda would have the sense to get off their asses and overhaul their game engine and character animations for Skyrim, but they did the bare minimum improving of this nonsense. Now I transfer the same prayer to Fallout 4....
If they give me Fallout 4 with Metal Gear Solid 4 quality character animations....I don't know if I'd stop playing until the next Bethesda game came out....

My Captcha was: "tstyza Wheatley" <_<

Well pretty much any realistic human will be stuck on animation for a long time, because our movement patterns are extremely complex and on top of that we have been observing them all our life, the slightest error stands out like a sore thumb.

But there are ways to minimize the pain with these things, by showing characters from a distance, show them from behind or simply converse during other activities, make it a little fuzzy, reduce emotion,...

Which is pretty much everything ME ignores, especially ME3.
Every time someone talks they slap the camera right on their face and zoom so far in you can almost read their DNA, which isn't only irritating but it makes every wayward twitch blindingly obvious.
Then you add the emotions that are actually exaggerated and put things even more out of whack, and if you don't stick to a single moral direction the gap between responses makes the character look like a complete schizophrenic wackjob.
And then there are the romance scenes, could have made them fuzzy, could have just been insinuated, ... but no they do it full on and it looks terrible.

Miranda is a facial scan to resemble her VA, the rest are designed and stylized, Miranda clashes with the design, which is why she stands out so much.

And she's a sad sad excuse for a Yvonne Strahovski wannabe...

I don't think Morrowind even enters the uncanny valley, unless you're using mods.

But, yes, the others shouldn't be allowed to live if they showed up in the real world.

I believe, so far the best models I've seen have been made with the Source engine. At least when not moving around - Bloodlines has some rather good facial animations. It is possible Valve will be one of the first to exit the uncanny valley.

Otherwise, Zhukov said all that could be said.

I was playing Arma II recently. Or more accurately, I was using it as some kind of screensaver. I ordered the AI to fly me around in a MV-22.
<img src="http://media.defenseindustrydaily.com/images/AIR_MV-22_Osprey_Tilting_Rotor_lg.jpg" width=400>

So I flew around the entire island for like half an hour with a lot of other aircraft surrounding me. At the end we landed and I walked to my pilot. I asked him if he had seen other units.

I had never used this option before.

Suddenly Microsoft Sam responds; I-saw-a-MV-2-2-north-of-Snilnovak-I-saw-a-F-3-5-north-west-of-Vlosk, and he just continuous naming all of those units and their locations in incredibly weird copy-pasta sentences and... WTF.
That was always a problem with that and the Flashpoint series. Rather than actual dialogue, all the NPC's talk like answering machines.
